Smith shed light on Pippen’s actions at the time of Jordan’s father’s brutal death.
In the latest episode of the PBD Podcast, Smith spoke about how Jordan feels betrayed by Pippen. He continued to talk about the time when the former Bulls‘ small forward revealed in his book ‘Unguarded’, that “he didn’t give his condolences in person.” Furthermore, Smith revealed that he was on a call with Jordan that day and was talking about something else.
“We had heard about what Scottie Pippin had said and Michael Jordan was under the impression that he was just busy as it was chaotic and all of this other stuff,” he added. Smith cited this as the reason why Jordan didn’t think of this all these years until Pippen alluded to his father passing away, his father being murdered, and how he didn’t give his condolences on purpose.
Despite knowing the pain of losing a father, Scottie Pippen didn’t reach out to Michael Jordan
In his book ‘Unguarded’, Scottie Pippen spoke about not reaching out to Michael Jordan at the time of his father’s death and expressed how he feels about it. “Another opportunity, if you can call it that, came during the summer of 1993, and I feel horrible every time I think about it,” he wrote. Pippen continued to talk about Jordan’s father’s murder and how the two were inseparable.
Furthermore, Larsa’s ex-husband mentioned that he should have reached out to Jordan as soon as he heard the news. “Having lost my own dad three years before, I might have been able to offer Michael some comfort,” the 6x NBA Champion added. He concluded by stating that to this day, he and Jordan haven’t spoken about his father’s death.

In the same podcast, Stephen A. Smith also revealed what Michael Jordan said about Scottie Pippen after he got to know that Pippen purposely didn’t reach out to him at the time of his father’s death. It can be easily inferred and it is like stating the obvious that Jordan will never forgive Pippen for his actions.

“Michael Jordan’s words were ‘I hope it’s worth it for him I have nothing and he literally said I have nothing else to say,” Smith revealed. In addition to this, he stated that he know Jordan well enough to know what he meant by this statement. This revelation has surely added another intriguing layer to the infamous feud between Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.
