Shaq is just as famous today as he was two decades ago at the height of his career. His interesting persona kept him in business despite an end to his NBA career. He retired from the league in 2013 after hopping from one team to the other in the final few years.
Guest appearances on fan-favorite shows, his own podcast, and Emmy winning ‘Inside the NBA’ on TNT kept O’Neal relevant even today. The 7’1 giant is not hard to notice but for a retired player to have constant fan engagement 10 years after retirement is rare. Recently on his podcast, Shaq had the wildest reaction to Doja Cat’s Grammy mishap.
Shaq had a wild question for Doja Cat after Grammys
NBA has a special connection with the music industry, especially among rappers. They often give shoutouts to their favorite players. There are instances where fans compare players based on how many shoutouts they have.
In addition to being a basketball legend, Shaquille O’Neal is also a DJ. He goes by the name diesel and can be seen performing in various music fests. So it goes without saying, he keeps up with whatever is going on in the music industry.
American Rapper Doja Cat won her first Grammy this year for best pop duo/group performance. She has been in the game far too long and successful to not win one. That, however, changed this year.
After the Awards ceremony, she revealed how a bathroom break caused her to almost miss the spectacular moment. The 11x Grammy-nominated singer was apparently using the restroom right before they asked her to accept the award. She had to rush back to the stage and look her very best for the picture-perfect moment that she will recall throughout her career.
Shaq delved deep into the incident and had a very valid but uncomfortable question for Doja, “She was in the bathroom and somebody told her she won an award. And she ran straight… Did she wash her hands”?
It is highly unlikely that Doja Cat will ever answer Shaquille O’Neal but posing a question like this is why he is a fan favorite.
