Patrick Beverley turned quite a lot of heads after he boldly proclaimed that it is only a matter of time before Anthony Edwards decides to leave the Minnesota Timberwolves. As many fans might be aware, Ant is a young and rising star in the NBA and is currently making his presence felt for Team USA at the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
Although Edwards is still quite young and just finished his third year in the league, Pat Bev remains convinced that he will soon find a way out of his current team. Since Beverley was Edawards’ teammate during a brief stint with the Timberwolves, one should wonder if he has any inside intel on this situation. After all, we already know that he has quite a good relationship with Ant.
In any case, let us take a closer look at what Beverley had to say about Edwards’ situation with the Bulls and why a shift in teams is inevitable.
Will Anthony Edwards ask for a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves?
We are entering an era in the NBA where players can just up and demand a trade. Even if they are in the middle of a contract that was recently signed. While Edwards has not given fans any reason to believe he engages in similar behavior, Pat Bev opined that he will inevitably find a way to leave the team.
“He will get out of Minnesota. That’s just what happens. That’s no disrespect to Minnesota, it’s just with that personality, he can change the world with basketball…He is the type of player that you need to see him.”

Patrick Beverley went on to explain how Minnesota doesn’t get much recognition in terms of nationalized television. Therefore, he, and other fans, feel that Edwards would have to take his talents to a big market team such as the Miami Heat in order to find success at the next level, “ant would fit so well in miami.”

While Beverley certainly has a point, one should wonder if Ant will decide to leave the city that drafted him. However, if any team has a good chance of securing him in the near future, it would be the Heat. Especially after all the viral interactions between Edwards and coach Erik Spoelstra. We look forward to seeing how he and his team handle all this attention.
