Sasa Doncic is the father of Dallas Mavericks star, Luka Doncic, and is the reason he chose to play basketball. However, Luka’s parents are no longer together in marriage and were divorced when Luka was just a 7-year-old. According to numerous reports, Mirjam Poterbin filed for divorce due to Sasa’s infidelity. However, Sasa is still around Luka and looking out for his son from time to time.
Sasa didn’t play a major role in Luka’s life while growing up, as his mother, Mirjam got full custody of Luka. Since then, Mirjam has looked after Luka and supported him throughout the years. However, the mother-son relationship has degraded as a result of a legal dispute over a trademark between them. Despite all this, Luka was spotted with his sister, Tiana Doncic, and his father during a game against the Washington Wizards.
Sasa Doncic is a basketball coach in Slovenia
Luka was born into a sports-oriented family, however, it was Sasa who introduced the game to him. Sasa is a basketball champion himself and played professional basketball in Europe. Luka may be way ahead of his father in the game of basketball, thanks to all the good qualities he inherited from him. Sasa has been coaching basketball teams in Slovenia now. He is now spreading his basketball knowledge to other players in Europe.
Sasa was never that good to play at the biggest stage in basketball. He played professional basketball in Europe during his career and didn’t have what it took to compete in the NBA. Nevertheless, Sasa started playing professional basketball in 1993. He won 2 Premier A League Championships and 3 Slovenian Cups as well as a Supercup. Even though he didn’t put up huge numbers, his son is making him proud by dominating the league.
