Devin Booker has already made a name for himself in the NBA. He is a three-time All-Star and was named to the NBA First Team in 2022. At the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, the 26-year-old earned a gold medal with Team USA. He also excelled in college at Kentucky while on his road to the NBA.

At Grandville High School in Michigan, Devin Booker started playing high school basketball. He went to Mississippi with his father after his first year and started playing at Moss Point High School there. By the end of his junior year, Booker had received scholarship offers from many prestigious colleges. During his junior year, he received the Mississippi Gatorade Player of the Year Award.

Booker became friends with future NBA stars Tyler Ulis and D’Angelo Russell while they were both in middle school. He concluded his three-year career at Moss Point with 2,518 points, averaging 30.9 points per game during his senior season. He was chosen for the third team of the USA Today All-USA after the season. In October, Booker declared his intention to attend Kentucky for his senior year.

From Moss Point High School in Mississippi, where he was a five-star prospect and 2014 McDonald’s All-American, Booker selected Kentucky over offers from Missouri, Michigan, Michigan State, and other schools. Before announcing his intent to enter the NBA Draft, Devin played one season with Kentucky. Booker took the bench in 38 of his appearances.

He played for a Kentucky team that went 38-1, finished the regular season undefeated, and lost to Wisconsin in the Final Four.

Booker scored 10.0 points, averaged 21.5 minutes a game, and grabbed 2.0 rebounds on average as a freshman. He received the SEC Sixth Man of the Year award. The Michigan native kept developing his athletic prowess while playing for the Wildcats. In a game against Texas-Arlington, Booker scored 19 points, breaking his personal record for points scored per game.

Booker, along with six other Kentucky teammates (Andrew Harrison, Aaron Harrison, Dakari Johnson, Willie Cauley-Stein, Trey Lyles, and Karl-Anthony Towns), made the decision to relinquish his remaining three seasons of eligibility.

Booker was chosen by the Phoenix Suns with the 13th overall choice in the 2015 NBA Draft on June 25, 2015. Two days before turning 19, he played in the Suns’ season-opening game against the Dallas Mavericks to make his NBA debut. After playing basketball in college for at least one year, he became the first player in NBA history to make his debut at the age of 18.
