The world of basketball has another incredible superstar who goes by the name of Caitlin Clark. It won’t take too long before she earns her way up the GOAT debate either. Since the start of her college career, experts have been closely analyzing her work. Most legends of the game even consider her to be the greatest collegiate basketball athlete ever. Such high praise at the age of 22 has got to be a great feeling for Clark.
She began her career at the University of Iowa back in 2020, and she quickly assumed the role of the Hawkeyes’ best scorer. Eventually, teams got to learn about Clark’s versatile game. Clark ranks second to Sabrina Ionescu in most triple-doubles recorded in NCAA Women’s Division I Basketball. Clark is also the all-time leader in points in the women’s division while holding several other records as a Hawkeyes player.

Caitlin Clark is someone one would call a generational talent. It isn’t that often that we get to witness someone like her take the floor and dominate on a nightly basis. Clark has made things easy, though. As a freshman, she averaged 26.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game. Clark impressively put up 3.9 three-point attempts per game as well.

During her sophomore season, Clark averaged 27 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists per game. At this time, Clark began showing great versatility on the floor and garnered a lot of attention. She managed to maintain the same pace during the 2022-23 NCAA season averaging 27.8 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game. Clark managed to lead the Hawkeyes to the NCAA Finals but lost to the LSU Tigers.

Her 2023-24 season was what shocked a lot of people. Caitlin averaged a college career-high of 32.2 points per game while overtaking Kelsey Plum and Pete Maravich on the NCAA all-time scoring list of the women’s and men’s divisions. She also averaged 7.4 rebounds, and 8.7 assists per game. She has never shot below 45% from the field through her stint with the Hawkeyes. Caitlin Clark has the second most three-pointers made in the women’s division
Caitlin Clark has dethroned Kelsey Plum as the all-time leader in points in the women’s division and for the second-most three-pointers made as well. She has just over 500 three-pointers made, second to Taylor Robertson from the University of Oklahoma. Robertson set the record in 2023 before concluding her college run. Clark has multiple accolades under her belt with a resume that possibly outclasses the achievements of her former and present peers.
She was named the Big Ten’s Player of the Year twice in 2022 and 2023. Clark was also named the conference’s freshman of the year in 2021 while winning the MOP title twice as well. The 22-year-old has led the NCAA in assists and scoring twice each while being named a Division I Academic All-American of the Year in 2023.
Clark has received the Nancy Lieberman Award (twice), the Dawn Stanley Award (thrice), the Honda Sports Award, the John R. Wooden Award, the Wade Trophy, and the James E. Sullivan Award. She has been named an All-American multiple times as well. The 3x USAWB gold medalist still has a lot more to experience and win.
