NBA Matchup: Brooklyn Nets vs Boston Celtics
Date: 24th February 2022
Time: 7:30 pm ET
The All-Star break draws to a close with the first slate of NBA games returning tonight. Brooklyn Nets will take on the visiting Boston Celtics at the Barclays Center. Both teams have lost their last game before the All-Star game to lower-ranking teams, and are looking to bounce back. Brooklyn to the Washington Wizards and Boston to the Detroit Pistons.
Who won the game the last time they played?
The Celtics and the Nets have played each other twice this season and split the wins. However, their last encounter was a blowout win for the Boston Celtics as they won by 35 points. The game was played in the same venue as tonight’s matchup and featured a depleted Brooklyn Nets side. Only 2 starters, Blake Griffin and Patty Mills were available and the rest of the side was made up of bench players.
In a complete team win, 5 Celtics players scored double-digit points. Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart, the two starting guards, led the way with 22 points each. Brown also recorded 9 assists to go with his 7 rebounds to cap off one of his best games this season. Jayson Tatum also scored 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists in just 27 minutes.
Coach Ime Udoka capitalized on the Nets’ poor form to give valuable minutes to his bench and reserve players. Everyone except Bruno Fernando played at least a full quarter’s worth of minutes.
Brooklyn Nets vs Boston Celtics Prediction
Based on Kyrie Irving’s recent statements, Nets fans are optimistic of an upturn in form. Freshly revitalized Brooklyn Nets intend to mount a challenge to climb the league table after a poor run of form before the trade deadline.
However, the Celtics are no pushovers. They are the hottest team in the NBA along with title favorites, Phoenix Suns. The Boston-based team has won 9 of their last 10 games. And this one is tough to call, but Brooklyn might lose out to the in-form Celtics without any of their star players.
