Vicente Luque and Michael Chiesa clashed at UFC 265 in what was a contest between two elite welterweights. It was expected that this fight would go the distance as both fighters are tough and have strong skillsets. However, The Silent Assassin got the job done quickly as he won the fight in the first round via submission.
As soon as the proceedings began, Vicente Luque tried to press Chiesa and tried to initiate the fight. Although the Maverick started moving around to avoid any initial exchanges. During this period Chiesa landed a good right hand as he stunned the Brazilian fighter. Soon Vicente struck back and had Michael Chiesa on the ground. Though it looked like Chiesa slipped as he got back up quickly.
Consequently, Michael Chiesa did not waste any time as he landed a takedown over Vicente Luque. He had the Brazilian fighter on the back and it was looking very dangerous. Chiesa almost had him on the ropes with the rear-naked choke. However, The Silent Assassin showed great defense as he countered the rear-naked choke and converted it into a D’ arce choke.
Vicente Luque had Chiesa struggling with his submission attempt and Michael Chiesa tapped out shortly. Hence Vicente Luque incredibly won the fight against a strong welterweight contender via submission.

Vicente Luque secured his fourth consecutive win in the division at UFC 265 and has certainly entered into the title contender race alongside Leon Edwards and Gilbert Burns. Moreover, what makes this win more impressive is the fact that he came out of a dangerous situation and made an opponent tap whose expertise lies on the ground.
Moving on, after winning the fight Vicente Luque called out Kamaru Usman for a title shot. He believes that it is his turn to fight for the title as Usman has defeated the rest of the division and he is the only fighter to have not faced The Nigerian Nightmare.
