Injuries to star players are a huge problem for teams during the middle of the season in the National Football League (NFL). The impact a major player has on the team’s performance is crucial and often disrupts the entire rhythm of the whole unit. Moreover, if your starting quarterback gets injured, the problem is much worse.
For Cincinnati Bengals fans, that is exactly the case currently. In the midst of an average season, their main man, Joe Burrow, has been ruled out for the remainder of the season. Joe Burrow suffered a wrist injury in the Game 11 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens and left the field looking in a fair amount of discomfort.
Later, it was revealed that Joe Burrow had torn a ligament in his right wrist and would be required to undergo surgery. He had to leave the field after throwing a go-ahead touchdown pass to Joe Mixon with the Cincinnati Bengals leading 10-7.
A video has been released that shows the reaction of Burrow after he suffered the injury. He could be heard saying, “It popped. My wrist.” Burrow was clenching his fist in pain, unable to stretch it out, and was visibly hurt.
Joe Burrow later tried to grip and throw a ball on the sidelines but was not able to do so. He looked extremely frustrated and kept shaking his head in disappointment. Burrow headed towards the locker room, disappointed.
Joe Burrow talks about the play wherein he could feel his wrist pop
Joe Burrow talked about the injury the following day and explained the exact moment he felt his wrist pop. Burrow explained that it was actually the play before the touchdown pass to Joe Mixon, wherein he landed on the wrist, which had done the damage. While throwing the pass, he could feel his wrist pop. The quarterback said he gave it a shot to rejoin the game but was unable to do so.

“The play before it happened, I landed on the wrist a little bit, and the next play, the touchdown pass, just felt a pop in the middle of the throw,” Burrow said. “Tried to give it a go but just couldn’t get it done, and obviously got the news today, so not great.”
It’s obvious that it will be very disappointing for Joe Burrow to end the season on such a sour note. However, Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor feels it will not have a mental impact on Burrow. Taylor feels Joe Burrow is built differently and can easily tackle adversity.
“I think if he were a normal human being, you’d worry about it. He’s not. He is wired differently; he’s programmed differently,” Taylor said.

And Zac Taylor has a point in his statement as well. Burrow had a serious injury during his rookie season when he tore his ACL and MCL in the left knee. He was able to come back strong and win NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2021.
