Recently, the 24-year-old scored her first goal in the year 2024. It was a 0-7 win for the Aston Villa women against Sunderland. However, despite having a decent playing career so far, Alisha is found to be struggling in certain embarrassing on-field moments of her career. Let’s take a look at the four moments where her opponent got the better of her.
Alisha Lehman falls inside her own final third
In an international match for Switzerland against China, Alisha Lehmann went across to make a couple of strong challenges. She seemed pretty determined in order to get the ball out of the opposition’s players’ feet. On a couple of occasions during the match, she tried to do it.
On the first occasion, she did succeed at it. But, on the second chance, she tried to block the opponent’s defender inside the final third and instead ended up falling on the ground herself. The China player easily manages to deal with Alisha Lehmann and shrugs her off.
Tackle failure against Arsenal
Alisha Lehmann is often known for her aggressive on-field playing style. She never hesitates to use her strength. While tackling remains one of the main attributes of her play, she sometimes overuses it. In a Women’s League game against Arsenal, the 24-year-old was throwing in a lot of spontaneous challenges.
However, despite getting some of them right, Alisha failed miserably when she tried to stop Arsenal’s number 19. The Aston Villa player did throw in a brisk tackle to stop the opponent’s player’s progress. But she was left bemused when the Arsenal player managed to beat her easily on pace.
Revengeful act in match against Brighton
In one of the league games against Brighton, Alisha had one of the toughest outings of her club’s career. It seemed like the Brighton players decided that they were not going to let her settle into the game. The 24-year-old Aston Villa forward received a couple of harsh challenges from the Seagulls players during the match.
However, the way Alisha Lehmann responded back wasn’t too sporty of herself either. The Swiss international kicked the ball straight and hard into a Brighton player later in the match. The clip garnered so much attention on social media. Her on-field action was labeled as being done with a revengeful attitude.
Alisha Lehmann got a yellow card against Leicester
Alisha Lehmann’s aggressive on-field instincts got the better of her once again. In a Women’s League clash in the year 2022 against Leicester City W.F.C., the Swiss-born player seemed to be in full flow and was throwing in a number of aggressive challenges towards the Leicester players.
Alisha did get a couple of challenges right. But, from a spectator’s point of view, it was definitely getting one too many. However, the 24-year-old wasn’t in the mood to stop. During another attempt at a reckless sliding tackle on one of the Foxes’ players, the Aston Villa forward got it horribly wrong.
Alisha Lehmann ended up lunging from behind and hitting her opponent’s leg with her studs. The referee was quick to deem it an imminent foul. He showed the player a yellow card for her whereabouts. From the unique technique with which Lehmann approaches her game, it will be tough to say if the star forward will give up some of her on-field antics anytime soon in her career.
