Dwayne Johnson first met Dany Garcia while they were students at the University of Miami. After dating for some years, the couple tied the knot in 1997. A decade later, both Johnson and Garcia announced that they were ending their marriage. The couple’s divorce was finalized in May 2008.
Both of them openly admitted that the reason for their separation was that they were not able to meet each other’s expectations. Despite the divorce, Garcia and Johnson kept working together as she became Dwayne’s manager in 2008.
“We knew that we were moving into that period of our lives, the closing of a personal relationship. I was already deeply involved with his agents, I was already commenting on scripts. It was a very natural conversation, where he just said to me, ‘I would love for you to do this full-time.'” she said. The former bodybuilder in an interview with Marie Claire opened up about their decision to work together.
Dany Garcia has been Dwayne Johnson’s Manager for Years
Garcia has been working with her ex-husband for years. She is the manager and business partner of the former WWE Champion. They own the famous production company Seven Bucks Production. The company is responsible for producing some of Johnson’s career-best films.
They also own the popular Football league, the XFL, and relaunched it. The new ownership group includes Gerry Cardinale of RedBird Capital alongside Garcia and Johnson. The XFL was bought by the consortium from Dwayne’s former boss Vince McMahon for $15 million in August 2020. They were also able to save the league from bankruptcy.
Thank you Mayor Ron Nirenberg for all your support as we look to build a fantastic team for the city of San Antonio to be proud of.
