Former WWE Superstar Chris Benoit was having a great run with the company and was one of the most popular WWE superstars in the early 2000s. Chris was enjoying massive success in his career; however, the Rabid Wolverine’s life took a massive turn following a tragic incident.
The wrestler’s name got tarnished after an incident involving him murdering his wife and younger son before killing himself as well. Following this incident, WWE has tried to completely erase Benoit’s history with the company.
Due to the kind of incident, people involved in professional wrestling refrain from talking about Chris Benoit. However, a WWE Legend’s brutally honest take on Chris Benoit has recently been surfacing on the internet.
The WWE legend was none other than WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns‘ “wise man,” Paul Heyman. In an old video from the WrestleMania 34 weekend on Inside the Ropes, Paul gave his brutally honest take on Chris Benoit, the double murder, and suicide.
While calling out a fan for yelling, Heyman said, “Who’s saying, my boy? Why? Why? You can admire his work all you want, but you know what? You can admire his work all you want. But I’ll give you my take on it, since you want to keep on yelling out my boy. Three people died in that house that night. Three.”
“I don’t care about CTE, three People died in that house that night. Only one person had the choice behind it. The other two didn’t have a choice to die. So that’s your boy. F*ck you.” Heyman said.
Paul Heyman thinks Chris Benoit was a phenomenal wrestler
While giving his honest take on Chris Benoit, the double-murder and suicide, Paul Heyman also gave his opinion about how Chris Benoit was as a performer. He admired his skills and added that Chris Benoit was a phenomenal wrestler.
Heyman said, “As a performer amongst the five greatest I’ve ever seen in my entire life. As a performer, I loved having him in ECW, was going to make him the ECW World Heavyweight champion, and was going to put him in a feud with Eddie Guerrero.”
Paul also shared that Chris Benoit’s feud with Eddie Guerrero would have carried us. “So as a talent, remarkable. As a human being, I don’t care about CTE. I don’t care what the reasons are. Nancy and Daniel had no option. He did f*ck him,” the WWE legend said.
There’s no denial that Heyman’s take on Chris Benoit’s wrestling abilities is absolutely correct. Chris was an absolutely ruthless machine in the WWE, and it was his in-ring ability that took him to the heights of success. Chris Benoit’s 2004 Royal Rumble win and his World Championship reigns were the most memorable moments of his WWE career.
However, WWE’s reluctance to put Chris Benoit in the Hall of Fame is also understandable due to his double-murder and suicide. But what do you think of the issue? Let us know in the comments down below.
