Serena Williams is a 23-time Grand Slam champion from USA. She holds the record for the most Grand Slam titles in singles, doubles and mixed doubles among all active players. Serena is one of the best players in the world and her records speaks for herself.
Even though she has all these immaculate performances she has not won any Grand Slam from 2017. Serena withdrew from playing professional tennis after her hamstring injury in the 2021 Wimbledon opener.
Since then she has opted to sit out of all the major tournaments. Fans all around the world are awaiting news of her return.
Playing her last tennis match in August of 2021, Venus Williams is all set to return to the court according to her. Being 41 years old has not turned down Venus’ desire to play the game as she is preparing for her next competition following a break after competing in Wimbledon last July.
Serena Williams and Venus Williams excluded from the 2022 Wimbledon Open entry list
The Williams sisters have won 30 Grand Slam championships between them (Serena with 23, Venus with 7). They’ve also won 14 Grand Slam titles and three Olympic gold medals while playing doubles together.
Serena Williams was hoping to be ready for the 2021 Australian Open but that wasn’t the case. Her recovery is taking time. She is yet to be back on the court after a hamstring injury which forced her to withdraw from the 2020 US Open. She withdrew from the 2021 Australia Open and is spending most of her time training and is spending time with the family.
The same goes for Venus Williams. After her break in the earthy months of 2021, she is yet to be back on the court. She is a five-time singles champion at Wimbledon and has seven major singles trophies in all.

The elite duo of Serena and Venus Williams did not feature on the women’s singles entry list released by Wimbledon. It is possible that either player could request a wild-card invitation to the Grand Slam tournament, which begins on June 27.
The Wimbledon Open organisers said on their official website, “Wild cards for the Qualifying Competition and Main Draw events will be announced shortly before The Championships 2022. Seedings for The Championships 2022 will be announced shortly before the Fortnight and follow world ranking.”
