Formula 1 drivers aren’t the only ones living their lives on the edge, racing around in cars that are more than capable of clocking over 210 mph on the most treacherous circuits in the entire world. Interestingly enough, the list of thrill-seekers also includes Mercedes F1 boss, Toto Wolff. Only weeks back, the Austrian billionaire had fractured his elbow and is still very much recovering from the hefty blow.
However, with over a month left on his road to recovery, Wolff has already embarked on yet another thrilling adventure, and the fans couldn’t believe it. Susie Wolff, the managing director of F1 Academy and Toto Wolff’s partner, recently posted an exhilarating image on Instagram that portrayed her husband wakeboarding with a strapped arm.
Upon noticing Wolff’s risky maneuver, several fans swarmed over X and reacted to it. One fan wrote, “And isn’t he due for knee surgery as well?? He’s living on the edge.” Take a look at more such reactions from the F1 fandom.

By the looks of it, the image was captured during their summer vacation following the Belgian Grand Prix. “Above, on & under the water. That was August,” Susie Wolff captioned her post. But, what’s astonishing is that Wolff can be seen wakeboarding with an arm that is already broken. What’s more, there were supports wrapped around his left knee as well, suggesting it wasn’t just his arm that took the hit.
How did Toto Wolff break his arm?
The incident only came to light following Susie Wolff’s social media update featuring Wolff with an arm cast. She further wrote, “Action-packed start to the summer holidays. Last picture shows how the downhill mountain biking ended for Toto…”
As confirmed by Susie herself, Wolff took a bad tumble while biking down the hill on his vacation with the entire family and somehow fractured his arm. Eventually, Mercedes confirmed the same but, further revealed that the Austrian would be fully recovered before the start of the Dutch Grand Prix, the opening race weekend post-summer break.

And rightfully so, Wolff looked quite active and had no visible straps wrapping his left arm over the weekend at Zandvoort. However, the Austrian admitted to Sky Sports that despite not wearing a cast, his arm was still broken and further acknowledged needing knee surgery.
Unfortunately, there were even problems for Wolff during the Dutch GP weekend amidst countless strategic mistakes that eventually hampered the chances of claiming a Mercedes F1 podium through both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
Therefore, having missed a golden opportunity in the Netherlands, can Toto Wolff and Co. make amends over the forthcoming race weekend at Monza, the home of Ferrari? Let’s see what the future holds for the eight-time world champions.
