Adrian Newey is all set to leave Red Bull in 2025 after spending 19 years with the team. The Englishman has been vital to Red Bull’s progress over the last two decades, as their championships speak for themselves. Newey is arguably Formula 1’s greatest and most successful designer. He has helped Red Bull win many championships (Driver’s & Constructor’s). It is certainly a shock that he’s leaving, but the news will be the start of a long saga as well.

Several teams have reportedly been interested in signing Newey, as his resume is enough to indicate that he could well and truly bring any team closer to the F1 championship. These reports indicate that there is interest from Ferrari, Aston Martin, and Mercedes as well. Among these teams, Newey’s former team, McLaren could be interested in welcoming the designer back as well.
But there seems to be one team that could be ruled, that is Lawrence Stroll’s Aston Martin. Motorsport.com claims that the 65-year-old is “Reserved” with Stroll Sr and that would be the main reason why he wouldn’t be willing to join AM.
Adrian Newey’s manager Eddie Jordan could consider retirement from Formula 1
Eddie Jordan was recently questioned about what’s on Newey’s mind. Although he didn’t give much away, he mentioned during RB’s press release, “So if he’s going to take time out and just cruise for a while, then everyone would understand that. And I think that’s probably more likely to see rather than diving into any other possible employment career.”

He also mentioned that Newey’s age is a significant determinant. He has been in the sport for quite some time, performing at the highest level for one of the biggest teams in the world. That can understandably take a huge toll on anyone. Jordan points out that Newey’s retirement is possible, but he refuses to disclose any information.
Lewis Hamilton expresses admiration for Red Bull legend
There have been some rumors about Ferrari’s interest in signing the Red Bull icon as well. It would be a huge addition to the team, especially after the signing of Lewis Hamilton. The 7x champion spoke about the possible addition of Newey too. He said, “Adrian has a great history, track record and obviously just done an amazing job through his career. It would be a privilege to work with him.”

If Ferrari manages to secure Newey’s signature on the dotted line, provided it hasn’t happened already, it would certainly make the Italians the contenders for the 2025 championship. It would take some time for Newey’s magic to work, but Ferrari has shown some convincing signs in the past year that they have what it takes to compete for the top spots. Newey and Hamilton’s arrival could just cement that idea.
