Jean Todt was arguably the most prominent team principal and played an essential role in creating the Michael Schumacher era of dominance in the early 2000s. The dynamic duo was part of Ferrari’s world-famous dream team and churned out a whopping five world championship titles on the trot. But, that’s not it! Schumacher and Todt also cherished an inseparable bond off the track, which has managed to sustain for decades now.
Not only has Todt built a firm relationship with Schumacher, but the Frenchman has also extended his love and support to the entire Schumacher family. Interestingly enough, Told played a significant role in helping Mick Schumacher fight his way through the hurdles and earn a spot in the elite motorsport championship.
Hence, having journeyed with the Schumacher family for years now, the 77-year-old is one of the fewest Formula 1 personalities to have earned the privilege to enter Michael and Corinna Schumacher’s home where the seven-time world champion is currently recovering from the horrifying Skiing accident in 2013.
By the looks of it, Todt spends the most amount of time with Schumacher compared to other visitors and even revealed the same during an interview, earlier this year. The Frenchman further nullified the Schumacher rumors currently making rounds in the motorsport community.
Jean Todt demands privacy for Michael Schumacher and his family
As reported by the Independent, the former Ferrari boss did not shy away from accusing fans and the media of creating stories about Schumacher that aren’t entirely true. He further added that he spends an awful lot of time with the racing legend and even watches Formula 1 races together.
“Let’s leave them alone,” he told Corriere Dello Sport. “We respect the privacy wishes of Corinna and her children, we know that that accident had consequences. Anyone who says he knows something, he knows nothing. I always go to see him. He and his family are my family.”
During an interview in 2022, Todt opened up about his frequent visits to Schumacher’s house. “I don’t miss Michael, I see him,” Todt reportedly told RTL. “Yes, it’s true, I watch Grand Prix with Michael. But sure, I guess what I miss is what we used to do together.”
Overall, it has been over a decade since Schumacher endured the Skiing accident in Switzerland, and the world is still awaiting a formal health update from the Schumacher family. Hence, will Corinna finally break her silence and disclose the current state of Michael Schumacher?
