Until 2019, the world-renowned motorsport series, F1, often remained in the shadows of other competitive motorsport championships including NASCAR and IndyCar in the United States. Indeed, there is no denying that Stefano Domenicali and Co. tried their best to lure American audiences through the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.
However, upon a lack of significant improvement in nearly a decade, the new F1 owners embarked on a new and rather exciting journey. Liberty Media came up with a mantra that somehow worked magic in the Western continent; The American owners spurred a partnership with Netflix to create a fascinating documentary series about Formula 1 and the high levels of excitement and enthusiasm the sport has to offer.

Merely days after unveiling the series on Netflix, F1 became the most talked-about subject in the whole of the United States. The sport witnessed millions of Americans joining its massive fandom, records were broken in the succeeding years, with the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix projected as the most-watched race in the history of the F1.
This paved the way for the arrival of two new circuits in the United States. And what’s more, Liberty Media picked two of the most famous cities to host the events, namely, Miami and Las Vegas. While the former is already attracting an astonishing count of spectators, Las Vegas is all set to make its formidable debut later this year.

Turns out the world-famous docu-series not only caused explosive growth in the fandom but, has also helped the Las Vegas GP organizer gain much-needed knowledge about the sport and its prolonged history. “I started to watch Drive to Survive as kind of homework, I felt like I needed to learn more about this sport,” Steve Hill, CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, said according to Autoweek.

“I saw what was there and thought ‘Wow this is something.’ I went to Austin in 2021, and you see what that does (as a Grand Prix), it overwhelms Austin, it’s crazy, and it’s out in a field and it’s still such a big event. You see it there and see what that can be to Las Vegas and you think this is going to be something.”
Overall, the Las Vegas Grand Prix is inarguably going to be a blast for Formula 1 and is all set to become, if not the biggest, at least one of the biggest events in the entire world.
