The Singapore Grand Prix came as a breath of fresh air for Formula 1 fans as Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz won the race, which was the first non-Red Bull win of the season, shaking up their dominant narrative. Up until this particular race, the Milton Keynes-based team had been the uncontested victors, securing 14 consecutive wins while the record breaker Max Verstappen was heading towards his eleventh successive victory but it ended up in a massive turn of events.
The Scuderia Ferrari team had a festive celebration after the race to laud their first trophy of the season. As the staff alongside drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc posed for pictures with the team principal Fred Vasseur, the former ran with the trophy in his hands in order to secure it from damage when the party got heated up. A Twitter user (@Shannon_oliverr) commented, “Carlos learning from Redbull’s mistakes.”

This particular comment was a flashback to the days when Verstappen lost his own trophies during such celebrations. During the Hungarian Grand Prix, McLaren driver Lando Norris celebrated by knocking over the Dutchman’s trophy off the podium. However, a similar incident happened at Silverstone as well when the same culprit, Norris hit his champagne bottle on Max’s trophy but surprisingly, this one survived. It was in Hungary where history was made as the Briton managed to knock off two consecutive trophies.
About Carlos Sainz’s gold-plated Singapore F1 trophy
The race at the Marina Bay track was an intriguing one as it changed the preconceived notions the teams had so far into the season. When the Spaniard stood on the peak of the podium last Sunday, he was awarded the unique gold-colored trophy specifically made for the winner. RISIS, the famed jewelry maker based in Singapore, is in charge of carefully crafting the trophies for the Grand Prix held every year.

For this ongoing season, RISIS made a trophy which was a piece of art on its own. Adorned with three gold stripes, each plated with pure 24-karat gold, it symbolizes power, direction, and speed; all of which make up the basis for Formula 1. The elegant flowing lines of the trophy pay homage to the sleek contours of a modern F1 car, adding a segment of grace, finesse, and beauty to the magnificent sculpture which Sainz could never risk losing.
The foundation of the trophy is a mindful tribute to the enduring history of the first-of-a-kind night races in Formula 1. This trophy isn’t just a mere symbol of victory but is also a fusion of deep-rooted historical narrative, art, and innovation and it is safe to say that this particular piece was presented to someone well deserved.
