SUMMARY
- Palworld, that game aptly 'Pokemon with Guns', is an action game where players can catch 'pals'.
- Players can use Assault Rifles and Rocket Launchers to defeat the wild fauna and capture them.
Pocket Pair’s upcoming game Palworld is a monster-collecting game in which the characters similar to Pokémon use guns in their battle. The game will have Pokémon-like cute creatures using guns. Although it may sound scary, the gameplay in reality looks cartoonish. The game also has a lot of controversy attached which the developers are trying hard to avoid.
In the game, players will be able to use assault rifles and rocket launchers to take down the wild fauna in the game. These range from ferocious felines to cuddly dinosaurs. Developers Pocket Pair has assured players that the game includes a lot of content. Notably, there is also a multiplayer mode wherein players can team up with other players or take on them.
Palworld to release on Xbox Game Pass
The developers recently launched a new trailer on January 9, thus giving confirmation that the controversial game will be released next week on January 19, 2024. Notably, the game will be available on the said date in early access only on Steam.
Apart from the confirmation on release, devs also confirmed this fierce Pokémon-style game will also arrive on Xbox Game Pass on the same day. The game will be available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
Apart from the ability to use guns, the upcoming title also features base building, crafting, dungeons, enemy factions, giant Pal bosses, mounts as well as multiplayer. Palworld is believed to support 32 players at launch. It is also said the devs would add PvP options at a later date.
Why is Palworld called ‘Pokémon With Guns?’
The game’s trailers flaunt these catchable creatures and a colourful environment which made fans compare it to Pokémon. Although these Pals in Palworld seem to look like cute Pokémon, they can use guns during combat. These pals can be shot and killed during the combat. Thus giving it the name ‘Pokémon With Guns.’
The game has an open-world set-up including 100 unique creatures or ‘pals’ each of whom has their own set of skills. A brief look at Palworld’s website clearly indicates how the developer is trying to avoid a lawsuit from Pokémon makers for copyright. The devs have replicated the Pokémon calling trainers “tamers” and Poké Balls as “spheres.”
It remains to be seen if Palworld turns out to be an exciting spin on the Pokémon formula or just a rip-off. As some users noted from its previous game Craftopia, Pocket Pair has a pattern of taking elements from more popular titles and creating something that’s extremely fun.
