Interestingly, the game’s announcement comes at a time when recent reports and rumors are suggesting that Nintendo’s next-generation Switch is scheduled to come out in 2025.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A announced by Nintendo
Fans got to know about the exciting announcement during the Pokemon Presents presentation on February 27, 2024, as the game was officially revealed.
According to the information provided by Nintendo, the game will be set in the Kalos area, which is modeled on France and fans will remember seeing it in Pokemon X and Y. Nintendo later stated that the game will take place fully within Lumiose City, which is modeled on Paris.

“A new adventure awaits within Lumiose City, where an urban redevelopment plan is underway to shape the city into a place that belongs to both people and Pokemon”, the official description of the game reads.
As Pokemon Legends: Z-A has been announced to come out in 2025, there are high chances that the game might skip the original Nintendo Switch and come directly to the Switch 2.
Apart from that, Nintendo didn’t include any gameplay in the teaser. The teaser however does show the Pokemons that fans might anticipate seeing in the upcoming game. Players can also expect the comeback of the Mega Evolutions mechanic from Pokemon X and Y based on the hints given in the teaser.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A open-world setting
Based on the description provided, Pokemon Legends: Z-A will completely be set in Lumiose city, although players might get to see and explore a few more things apart from the city.
It therefore appears that the developers are approaching the game’s open world somewhat differently from the previous Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Arceus had a more expansive open-world setting that allowed the players to explore a sizable portion of the Sinnoh region, known as Hisui, especially the area around Mount Coronet.
With the Pokemon game still a year away from launch, further details regarding what fans may anticipate from the game will be revealed by the developers in the upcoming announcements.
