MrBeast has Astigmatism
Jimmy Donaldson also known as “MrBeast,” recently revealed that he suffers from an eye disease known as Astigmatism. He shared a post on X, informing fans about his condition. In the post, he mentioned that he realized that he was not able to see distant objects. This encouraged him to get his eyes checked by a professional. On getting the tests done he was diagnosed with Astigmatism.
This might sound crazy, but I thought things far away looking super blurry was normal lol. I got my eyes checked and apparently have a bad stigmatism. Started wearing contacts recently and wow. My eyesight is 3x better and i dont squint/can actually open my eyes normally 😅🥰

The YouTuber also added that the condition requires him to use corrective contact lenses, which allow him to see “3x” clearer. The American also joked about his condition saying, “I should have helped myself in this video 💀.” He was referring to one of his older videos wherein he helped as many as 1,000 blind people gain their vision and see for the first time.
What is Astigmatism?
Astigmatism is a common and normally treatable imperfection caused by the curvature of the eye. According to the US National Eye Institute, “Astigmatism is a common eye problem that causes vision to become blurry or distorted, also causing eye strain and trouble seeing at night.”
It causes distant and near vision to be blurred. In this condition, the cornea, which is the clear front layer of the eye, or the lens, which is the part of the eye that helps a person focus, alters their shape to an unnatural one. It changes to an egg-shaped surface instead of having a natural curve shaped like a round ball.
This change in shape causes light to bend differently when it enters the eyes, thus causing what science refers to as a refractive error, causing the vision to blur at all distances.
The most common signs of Astigmatism are blurred or distorted vision, eyestrain or discomfort, headaches, difficulty with night vision, and squinting. The condition is usually present at birth and occurs typically in combination with nearsightedness or farsightedness. It can be treated, with options such as corrective lenses or surgery.
