YouTuber MrBeast has made his feelings known toward the Twitter mishap taking place with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a United States Representative. The politician, aka AOC due to her initials, has been caught up in a tough spot due to Twitter CEO Elon Musk. A fake account in the name of AOC has been spreading false information. Unfortunately, people are falling for it.
Fake accounts are not something new on the social media platform. However, earlier the blue tick verification was provided only to the real accounts of famous people. Now, since Musk changed the verification system to a pay-to-verify system where you can pay to get a blue tick, it is very easy for anyone to get it. This system seems to be the culprit for people believing the fake account of AOC is real.
FYI there’s a fake account on here impersonating me and going viral. The Twitter CEO has engaged it, boosting visibility.
It is releasing false policy statements and gaining spread.
I am assessing with my team how to move forward. In the meantime, be careful of what you see.

From her original account, AOC complained, “FYI there’s a fake account on here impersonating me and going viral. The Twitter CEO has engaged it, boosting visibility.
It is releasing false policy statements and gaining spread.
I am assessing with my team how to move forward. In the meantime, be careful of what you see.”
This tweet was then quote-tweeted by the fake account named ‘Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Press Release (parody)‘ saying, “I can’t believe someone would do that to us.”
How is Elon letting this slide lol

MrBeast, who has had frequent friendly exchanges with Musk, then replied to this quote-tweet. He said, “How is Elon letting this slide lol.”
To put this into context, Musk is not only letting it slide. He has even commented on one of the fake account’s controversial tweets. This gave the fake account more reach.
Elon Musk commented on a tweet by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s fake account
On May 29, 2023, the fake account tweeted, “This might be the wine talking, but I’ve got a crush on
@elonmusk.”

It seems that even Musk was fooled by the fake account as he replied to it with a fire emoji. Due to Musk’s comment, the fake account’s reach increased significantly. The tweet about having a crush on Musk has over 26 million views. At the time of writing this, the fake account has over 228,500 followers.
Yes, the account name has ‘parody’ written in it. However, it seems that people are being attracted due to the blue tick. It should be noted that AOC’s original account has a grey verification mark. The new system introduced by Musk attaches a grey mark to government officials.
Since this situation is now out in the open and all fingers are pointing toward Musk, we have to wait and see what actions will be taken to prevent it.
