For years now, Fortnite has enjoyed the stature of being one of the best battle royale games. It has also included different types of game modes and experiences in the past years and now, Epic Games is looking at diving deep into its metaverse of content by collaborating with LEGO. Fortnite is transitioning away from being merely a game and establishing its own game platform.
The collaboration with LEGO seems to be its first step in that direction. In the past fans have witnessed similar things like LEGO Worlds, however, LEGO Fortnite seems to be the real thing. LEGO Fortnite is now live on multiple platforms, including PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC, as well as cloud-based gaming services.
What is LEGO Fortnite?
LEGO Fortnite is a brand new live-service game that offers an “ultimate survival crafting” adventure. Looking at the massive reach of games such as Minecraft and Roblox, it looks like Epic Games too wants to get into the sandbox-cum-simulation genre.
In LEGO Fortnite, players will get the opportunity to build their own world, either solo or with friends. By stepping into the shoes of their inner Fortnite character players get to embark on a journey to collect resources, craft items, and battle enemies.
Unlike Fortnite, LEGO Fortnite is beyond just survival. Players must build their own shelter for defense and customize their ultimate home base. Players must also recruit villagers to collect materials and help them in their survival. To discover rare resources, hidden areas, and enemies, players must hunt down caves and other secret locations.
LEGO Fortnite will have a gameplay similar to Minecraft, allowing players to let their imaginations run wild. Building houses, and fortresses, upgrading home bases, and crafting weapons and accessories to prepare for battles against various enemies, including small creatures and formidable beasts, are just a few things players get to do among countless others.
Is LEGO Fortnite free?
LEGO Fortnite is free for anyone and everyone to play. Players can download Fortnite and begin playing without paying anything. The LEGO mode is being heavily promoted in Fortnite, so it won’t be difficult to spot it once a player downloads Fortnite.

Interestingly, interested players don’t even need to possess a PC or console. The game is playable on mobile and most handheld devices, thanks to Fortnite Cloud Gaming. That does not mean console players cannot play it. LEGO Fortnite can be played on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Android.
Although the LEGO Group has not yet launched any physical LEGO Fortnite sets, they will eventually launch them in the coming months. In an official statement, the CEO of the LEGO Group stressed that their focus was on digital play experiences thus bridging the gap between physical and digital play.
While players eagerly await LEGO Fortnite sets, they can enjoy the 1,200 LEGO Fortnite skins that Epic Games has launched as a part of this collaboration.
