In 2021, Rockstar celebrated 20 years of GTA 3 by launching a special bundle named Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Definite Edition. The Grand Theft Auto Trilogy Definite Edition included three of GTA’s most celebrated titles namely, GTA III, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas packaged as one.
Notably, the pack was released in 2021 only for consoles, and PC. It was announced that it would be released for mobile too, however, no release date was given for handheld devices. Post that, in typical Rockstar style, the developers remained silent about the mobile release date of the pack.
Meanwhile Take-Two Interactive, the parent of Rockstar Games pushed it back out of fiscal years. However, whenever asked they responded with a “To Be Announced” answer. However, with Netflix‘s recent announcement, it seems like the Trilogy may finally come on mobile.
GTA Trilogy on Netflix
It is reported that Netflix began discussions with Rockstar Games and Take-Two to get Grand Theft Auto in their game library this year. Netflix’s gaming library currently has over 80 playable games that can be accessed with a Netflix subscription. While some games on the platform are playable on the TV app and can be controlled via a phone, others can be downloaded as mobile game apps individually.
The GTA Trilogy remasters have finally been released on mobile via Netflix and each of them will be available as standalone purchases. Netflix announced last month that subscribers will be getting the classic three games free of charge. Now, the three iconic titles included in Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy — The Definitive Edition will be playable on mobile starting December 14, 2023.

Netflix subscribers can play The GTA Trilogy of games either directly from the Netflix mobile app or alternatively, download the three games as standalone from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. There are two versions of the same available, a free version for those who have a Netflix subscription and individual apps priced at $19.99 / £18.99 / €19.99 each on the respective app stores.
Size of the GTA Trilogy Games on mobile
So far Netflix has only revealed the file size of the GTA Trilogy for iOS devices. Players must note that the three games will only be available on Apple devices that have an A12 Bionic chip or later and iOS/iPadOS 16.0 or later. Here are file sizes of the same on iOS:
- Grand Theft Auto 3 Definitive Edition – 1.7 GB
- Grand Theft Auto Vice City Definitive Edition – 2.8 GB
- Grand Theft Auto San Andreas Definitive Edition – 2.9 GB
At the same time, the file sizes of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition for Android devices have not been revealed yet. It is speculated that the Android versions could be of a similar size considering the original mobile ports of the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy on Android.
That being said, the file sizes of the original GTA Trilogy mobile ports released some years ago on Android are as follows:
- Grand Theft Auto 3 – 1 GB
- Grand Theft Auto Vice City – 1 GB
- Grand Theft Auto San Andreas – 2 GB
Thus, it can be expected that the Definitive Edition’s Android file sizes may be similar or slightly larger than these. The exact Android file size can only be confirmed once it is available on the Google Play Store. Mobile users on iOS and Android have the option to pre-register so that they will be notified of the releases by Rockstar Games.
