Far Cry 6 recently hit the screens on October 7, 2021. Prior to the release, the developers at Ubisoft had made very little information available about how Far Cry 6 co-op will work. But now, as players have got their hands on the game and are exploring the options available in the game, the community is sharing more details about the feature.
Multiplayer mode has been an important mode in the series ever since Far Cry 3. The feature has gradually made its way into the main campaign to a greater degree with every new entry ever since. The predecessor, Far Cry 5, for the first time allowed for full drop-in, drop-out co-op in the series. Subsequently, it has been continued for Far Cry 6.
Players will be able to play the full main storyline along with all the side content with a friend in the Far Cry 6 co-op campaign. It will be enabled from the end of the “Du or Die” mission, which is one of the first quests in the game.
As mentioned above, similar to Far Cry 5, the multiplayer mode in Far Cry 6 will be fully drop-in, and drop-out. This means that players can enter a friend’s game whenever they wish and leave when it suits them. The player’s inventory and Guerrilla Experience will carry with them throughout sessions.
Apart from the entire campaign, players can also play Special Operations, which are separate missions specially designed for co-op mode of play. Players can also adjust options such as turning friendly off or on. However, players must remember that their movement will be restricted while playing, since they have to stay relatively close to the other player.
Does Far Cry 6 have Splitscreen?
Unfortunately, Far Cry 6 does not support an option for playing locally, or on a split-screen mode. Another limitation is that the game’s co-op mode permits only a maximum of two players. So if players were dreaming of taking down Anton’s system by teaming up with four armed Guerrillas, it wouldn’t be possible.
However, players can still play the co-op mode with two players. To begin the main campaign or the DLC in co-op, players need to first complete the Du or Die mission as Dani first.
Next, they can invite a friend into a co-op session by:
- Opening the in-game menu or DLC menu.
- Selecting the Co-op icon on the top right.
- Choosing Play with a friend.
- Picking the friend they want to invite from your friends list.
Once the invite has been accepted by the friend, they will automatically join your game. When playing the main campaign, players can also search for co-op partners online or join other random player’s co-op sessions. For this players must first look for co-op partners by:
- Opening the in-game menu.
- Selecting the Co-op icon on the top right.
- Choosing the ‘Search for a partner’ option.
After a partner is been successfully found, the player will automatically join your game. Similarly, players can allow other players to join their co-op sessions by:
- Opening the in-game menu.
- Select the Co-op icon on the top right.
- Choosing the Set as available option.
The player will receive an invite when someone wants you to play in their co-op session. Once the player accepts the invite, they will automatically join their game. Post this player can then set themselves as unavailable again by following the same process, since now they have found a partner.
