Famed YouTuber MrBeast has received a warning from fans so that the tragic history of PewDiePie’s battle against T-Series does not repeat. MrBeast, aka Jimmy Donaldson, posted the current YouTube subscribers ranking on Twitter. T-Series is on top as MrBeast follows in the second spot. He captioned the post, “I’m doing this for Pewdiepie.”
One fan commented on the post, “Don’t make same mistake like pewdiepie.”

Many other fans went on to warn MrBeast about it. However, what did they actually mean?
PewDiePie’s battle against T-Series in 2019 received a devastating connection in New Zealand. On March 15, 2019, Christchurch faced a terrorist attack led by a gunman named Brenton Harrison Tarrant. The Australian native opened fire inside two mosques and live-streamed his act while inside the first mosque. During his live stream, he mentioned: “Subscribe to PewDiePie.”
Felix Kjellberg, famously known as PewDiePie, immediately distanced himself from the attack in a since-deleted tweet.
His mention was solely related to the gunman’s ideology. As stated by Vox, “The shooter’s manifesto, titled “The Great Replacement,” repeats false propaganda about immigrants as “invaders” and references a number of radicalizing ideological influences…
It mixes references to memes, sh**posts — an internet term for pointless posts intended to derail or distract readers, the baffling nature of which can often approach Dadaist nonsense art — and other bits of benign internet culture with serious ideological dogma.”
“Subscribe to PewDiePie” was an often repeated phrase in the YouTuber’s battle against T-Series. It had become a symbol, a meme, unto itself. He even ended the meme by posting a YouTube video.
MrBeast’s recent tweet also seems like he has waged a war on T-Series. It cannot be said with certainty that this is what fans were warning MrBeast about, however, there is another more likely possibility.
MrBeast might face a U-turn from all his Indian fans
T-Series, owned by Bhushan Kumar and Gulshan Kumar, is an Indian music company. When PewDiePie waged war against T-Series for YouTube subscriber count, it was seen that Indians started to unsubscribe from the Swede’s channel. According to many fans, the battle had become India vs Sweden instead of PewDiePie vs T-Series.

As of August 6, 2023, MrBeast has 173 million subscribers, meanwhile, T-Series boasts 247 million subscribers. The subscriber count still has a huge difference. However, MrBeasts’ latest tweet seems to have started a long battle he is ready to be a part of.
PewDiePie became the most subscribed YouTube channel in December 2013. He stayed at the top for over 1900 days. T-Series claimed the first spot in March 2019 but five days later PewDiePie reclaimed the spot. The Swede held the top spot for another 13 days before T-Series began their long reign. The Indian record label has been on the top for over 1500 days now.
