Infinity Ward developed and Activision published Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, a first-person shooter video game. It served as the sequel to the 2019 reboot of Modern Warfare and became the nineteenth installment in the overall Call of Duty series. The game was released for different platforms like Windows, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 28, 2022.
The campaign followed multi-national special operations unit Task Force 141 and Mexican Special Forces unit Los Vaqueros as they attempted to track down Iranian Quds Force Major and terrorist Hassan Zyani, who had American-made ballistic missiles.
A new version of the IW engine powered Modern Warfare, which continued to support cross-platform multiplayer and featured a free-to-play battle royale mode called Warzone 2.0, serving as a follow-up to the original Warzone.
Modern Warfare 3 will be continuing the story of last year’s release confirmed by Activision. On June 30, the overseeing Judge in Activision’s court battle against the FTC let slip that they had set the release for November 2023, although it is not officially confirmed.
Throughout its journey, Modern Warfare 3 has been the center of attention for numerous leaks and rumors. Among them, a leaked gameplay video and a comprehensive discussion video have garnered significant interest among the gaming community. However, it’s crucial to emphasize that we should approach these leaks and rumors with caution due to their uncertain accuracy and reliability.
Release date and price
Sources hint at a potential release of Modern Warfare 3 in November 2023, with availability on all platforms, including the previous generation of consoles. However, the official release date is yet unconfirmed.
Bear in mind that the projected release dates are based on speculation and lack the official validation of Activision.
According to the industry standard for AAA releases, it is expected that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will cost around $75. However, it’s essential to note that it has not been officially confirmed yet.
Will CoD MW3 have cross-play?
Although Activision hadn’t confirmed anything, there was a very high chance Modern Warfare 3 would be cross-platform. The feature first appeared in 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot and had since become a mainstay of the franchise. Players could play the game on almost any major platform once it was released: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
The only exception was mobile devices which had COD Mobile packed full of content and fast-paced action the franchise was synonymous with.
Will Warzone 3 release with CoD MW3?
Leaked reports indicate that the debut season following the launch of Modern Warfare 3 will present a novel Warzone map. Based on the rumors, this could be an enhanced version of Las Almas, a setting popular in the Modern Warfare 2 campaign and multiplayer modes.
Nevertheless, an official announcement concerning Warzone 3 from Activision remains pending. Activision still needs to release further particulars, like the game’s specific features and its launch date.
On June 19, leaked images of potential Call of Duty 2023 maps emerged online, showcasing classic Call of Duty battlegrounds like Scrapyard and Terminal. However, DMCA claims swiftly took down the images, leaving fans curious about the revamped versions of these maps.
The leaked images of Scrapyard and Terminal have further supported Tom Henderson’s claim that COD 2023 will feature remastered maps from previous Call of Duty titles.
