Floyd Mayweather Jr. couldn’t control his tears while talking about the passing of his former personal assistant, Marikit Laurico, aka Kitchie.
The boxing legend was asked about Kitchie during his recent appearance on The Pivot podcast. Barely able to hold his tears, here’s what Mayweather Jr. had to say.
“We are gonna get through this. That’s tough because she is my best friend. People really wouldn’t understand; people like your drivers and your assistant are your best friends. Kitchie was the only person in life that I can talk about anything to, that knew my deepest secrets. There was no male or female in my life, that I told more stuff to than her.” An emotional Mayweather said.

Kitchie represented Mayweather for ten years, including his time as a professional boxer. Unfortunately, she passed away on March 28, 2023. She was 47 years old at the time of her passing. The cause of the death was never confirmed; however, according to several reports, she died of a heart attack.
How did Floyd Mayweather meet Kitchie?
Kitchie was married to her work. She invested her entire time helping Floyd Mayweather, which shows in the boxing legend’s words whenever he talks about her.
“All my assistant wanted to do was to support me and help me to be the best man that I can be.” Mayweather said, “All I ever wanted her to do was find a husband and not think about work and give herself breathing room sometimes.”
Marikit Laurico, fondly called Kitchie, emigrated to the US from Phillipenes when she was 11. According to The Sun, Floyd Mayweather meeting Kitchie for the first time was a chance encounter. Immediately after, Mayweather offered her the personal assistant and marketing manager position with “The Money Team,” whom she represented till her last breath
