According to the official website of Dominance MMA, Khamzat Chimaev’s name has been removed from the roster displayed on the website, indicating that the Chechen fighter has parted ways with Ali Abdelaziz’s highly successful management firm. The Chechen fighter is widely quoted to be the next big thing in mixed martial arts, and his exclusion from Dominance MMA’s roster opens up several questions. While the news has not been made official either by Khamzat Chimaev or Ali Abdelaziz, it looks like both the parties have indeed parted ways if we take a look at the recent advancements.
It won’t be wrong to say that if the news is true, it could have a lot to do with the recent controversy between Khamzat Chimaev and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s teammates. “We will tear him apart if he wants.” Khamzat had said during an Instagram Live with Chechen politician Ramzan Kadyrov, instigating several of Khabib’s teammates, leading to a bitter war of words between Khamzat and several Dagestani fighters.
Did Ali Abdelaziz part ways with Khamzat Chimaev because of Khabib Nurmagomedov?
It’s no secret that Ali Abdelaziz is quite close with the former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Abdelaziz’s management Dominance MMA boasts of some of the most incredible talents in the world of mixed martial arts, including Justin Gaethje, Kamaru Usman, Cody Garbrandt, Kayla Harrison and now retired Henry Cejudo and Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Needless to say, the addition of Khamzat Chimaev was seen as another big step for Dominance MMA considering the meteoric rise of Khamzat Chimaev in such a short period of time.
To assume that Ali Abdelaziz and Khamzat Chimaev’s deteriorating relationship has a lot to do with Chimaev’s beef with Khabib Nurmagomedov and the fighters who associate themselves with the former lightweight champion is not a far fetched idea. Earlier, Chimaev had mocked Nurmagomedov for cornering Artem Lobov with his team in the lead-up to UFC 299, ridiculing the Dagestani fighter for his “crowd-on-one” approach.
“I have a one-on-one motto, not a crowd-on-one, if you had something to say, you should have contacted me, not to contact me in public. We will see you there in America, boy! When your brother shouted to the world that he will smash anybody with confidence, so, I can’t be confident?”
Khamzat Chimaev remains out of action following his fight with the dreaded coronavirus and is looking to return to the cage sometime later this year. Chimaev has not shared any update about the change in his management and is yet to address the situation with Ali Abdelaziz and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
