It’s Sunday. You know what that means. AEW Revolution 2022 has just ended, and what a PPV it was. We had some awesome matches, storylines were started and brought to an end, and the not-so-surprising debut of Shane “Swerve” Strickland. Without delaying things too much, let’s just jump right into it; these are the Highs & Lows from AEW Revolution, 2022.
Low: Death Triangle needs to be booked much better
The House of Black defeated PAC, Penta Oscuro & Erick Redbeard in a match-up that was fast-paced, athletic; and overall, predictable. The stacked card for AEW Revolution was always going to mean less play time for the six athletes involved in this match up, but at least the finish could have been different.
#HouseOfBlack just one step ahead of #DeathTriangle again, snatching the victory tonight! What an insanely physical battle to set the tone for the night! #AEWRevolution PPV starts in just a few minutes! Available on @BleacherReport & @FiteTV (Int.)! pic.twitter.com/GraFBzd82A

While I understand that building up The House of Black is AEW’s priority right now, Penta just went through an entire gimmick change. PAC has been putting on some of the most fluid wrestling performances since joining the promotion, but Revolution highlighted his biggest issue; he just can’t seem to win the matches that truly matter. Here’s hoping Tony Khan does something about it, soon.

High: WARDLOW!
I called it! I called Wardlow becoming the Face of the Revolution! I’m just so damn happy that finally, Mr. Mayhem is making decisions for himself. He put on a fantastic display in the 6-man Ladder Match, giving Ricky Starks a case of the neck ouchies and absolutely yeeting Keith Lee & Powerhouse Hobbs off the stage. And after winning the ladder match, he only bloody went and turned on MJF!

During Max’s stellar Dog Collar Match (we’ll talk about it), a desperate Friedman called out his trusted bodyguard, only to be denied his most-lethal weapon. Instead, Wardlow would hand the Dynamite Diamond Ring to CM Punk, who uses it to seal the deal! Now, onto the TNT Championship for AEW’s Wardog, and then Long Island’s Little…well, you get it.

Low: Is Danhausen going to wrestle in AEW?
We know that Danhausen’s whole thing is that he’s Very Nice, Very Evil, but so far, all we’ve seen from him is the latter. The comic sensation made his debut in All Elite Wrestling last month, attached to a chair pulled out by Adam Cole. Since then, he has cursed The Elite, The Gunn Club and all the members of the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match.
Is this legal?! @DanhausenAD launching a curse on @starkmanjones and @RealWardlow! #FaceOfTheRevolution Ladder Match is happening right now on #AEWRevolution LIVE on PPV! Available on @BleacherReport & @FiteTV (Int.)! pic.twitter.com/tuFXBRJ8Vy

But while his involvement in AEW’s presentation is a definite asset, Danhausen is a professional wrestler first, and has only been presented as Orange Cassidy’s Best Friend so far. Here’s hoping that changes soon, because Danhausen’s curses aren’t as good as Danhausen wrestling.
High: CM Punk vs MJF was a bloody Odyssey
From the moment the Second City Saint walked out to his ROH entrance theme, I knew this match was going to be special. And it actually managed to exceed all my expectations. At a time where high-flying, acrobatic wrestling seems to be the norm across the globe, CM Punk and MJF told a beautiful story by grounding the action and letting their emotions do the talking for them.

Max actually tried to fight by himself for the most part, which is a rare occurrence, considering he always has someone backing him up. But we all know how that went at Revolution; and I, for one, cannot WAIT for Wardlow to get his hands on MJF after winning the TNT Championship and proving Little Max wrong.
Low: Britt Baker should have dropped the title to Thunder Rosa
AEW likes building strong champions and usually gives them lengthy title reigns to that effect. Dr. Britt Baker has been a great champion for the last 10 odd months, but it’s time that belt changes hands. Baker’s title reign has started to fizzle out.
What an exchange between @thunderrosa22 and Dr. @realbrittbaker!

A dearth of big-name opponents and the same, by-the-book formula that all of The Good Doctor’s matches follow are really starting to come through. Thunder Rosa was one of the ONLY members of AEW’s Women’s Roster credible enough to challenge Baker at Revolution. Though “Legit” Leyla Hirsch looks to be next in line for a title shot of her own, Tony Khan needs to do something about his Women’s World Title Scene; and quick.
High: Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson Join Forces w/ William Regal
What a match this was. They say that the best wrestling matches have a little bit of everything. By that standard, Jon Moxley vs Bryan Danielson was a festive buffet dressed in both fighters’ blood. It had everything you could ask for from a contest between these two performers; smooth technical wrestling, unique submission holds, and brutal yet effect strikes, powerful enough to permanently re-arrange your cranial structure.

At one point in the match, both competitors were just kicking each other in the head, simultaneously. After 20 minutes of committing pure violence against one another, the pair were separated by a man who has mentored them both. As the referees were separating Mox and Danielson, William Regal walked out, making his AEW debut. The Perfect Gentleman slapped them both in the face, and made them come together as the Ultimate Purveyors of Violence in AEW. Now, all that’s left is to check out Dynamite to see where this destructive (and highly decorated) duo heads towards in Tony Khan’s Pro Wrestling Paradise.
