Recently, a user shared a report stating AEW Chairman, Tony Khan has fired The Elite, i.e. Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks amid the drama.
The Elite, consisting of Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks gained popularity through their work in NJPW, particularly during the Bullet Club storyline, where they were key figures. The group’s popularity continued to rise, and they played a significant role in the launch of AEW in 2019. The Elite’s influence extends beyond their in-ring performances.
They have also been involved in various creative roles, such as producing and booking shows. However, since an infamous incident with CM Punk last year, they have been facing tons of criticism for their actions backstage. Amid Punk’s return, the drama has been reignited and Kenny and Bucks have reportedly refused to share the arena with Punk. Meanwhile, a user reported that Tony Khan fired The Elite.
WOAH. TONY KHAN HAS FIRED THE ELITE.
Story is just breaking, will have more details soon. Dave is on it.
Major implications for this weekend.

It all began after the AEW All Out 2022 media scrum. CM Punk made some degrading remarks about EVPs, that are The Elite. Following the scrum, Omega and Young Bucks also had a backstage altercation with Punk that reportedly turned into a brawl. The brawl eventually led to the suspension of everyone involved from the company. Almost a year later, reports of CM Punk’s return began circulating.
The Elite was obviously against the idea of the Voice of the Voiceless returning. Nonetheless, they had to adjust to the circumstances, but both parties will appear on different shows. Recent reports suggested that Kenny and Bucks refused to appear on the recent episode of AEW Dynamite due to Punk being present. AEW Authorities including Tony Khan were reportedly not happy with their unprofessionalism.
Who did the fans react to AEW reportedly firing The Elite?
As previously mentioned, a user reported that Tony Khan has fired The Elite in the midst of their drama with CM Punk. However, the report turned out to be untrue, as there is no confirmation of Khan taking such a drastic step all of a sudden. Although the report is not true, AEW fans seemingly revealed their true feelings for The Elite. Here’s how fans on Twitter reacted:
Let’s fucking hope he fired them. A real cancer in the locker room. All of them. https://t.co/JIJUYSVUbm

While the report may not be true, it could definitely be a part of an onscreen storyline. Fans have been speculating Punk to take on Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks in any capacity at the upcoming ALL IN PPV at Wembley Stadium in London, UK. Well, this could be the beginning of the feud if all the ongoing drama converts into a Kayfabe storyline.
