What happened in the Chris Curtis vs. Marc-Andre Barriault bout at UFC 297?
Even though the audience was quite surprised after Curtis’ entrance to Edge’s WWE-entrance-song, Bruce Buffer wasted no time and got right into the intros. With Todd Anderson as the referee, the fight started in spectacular fashion, as Chris was able to land a low kick on Marc-Andre within 20 seconds.
Despite taking the first blow, MAB didn’t lose control and came back strong. In this way, the fight continued. As soon as the next round began, The Action Man was right into attack, and dominated it in a similar way. In what was a split decision, Chris won the middleweight fight (30-27, 28-29, 30-27) after three rounds. Following his victory, Chris appeared for the post-fight interview, and during his appearance he was asked about his special entrance, “Did you walk out to Edge’s song?”
In his response, the MMA artist revealed why he used The Rated-R Superstar’s theme. He said, “Yeah. I like Edge. I was Iike hell yeah, someone in this crowd would be like hey that’s Edge. So yeah I’m glad somebody got it, there’s like some kids laughing when I came out so somebody got it like i think it was worth it.”
Through his answer, the 36-year-old made it clear that according to him it was absolutely worthy. In fact, he also talked about coming back to Canada for a fight in the near future. It now remains to be seen, what’s next for the 5-foot-10 after being victorious in the UFC 297 fight.
