Fightful Select has recently reported that the decision of CM Punk’s termination was delivered by a three-member disciplinary committee. The committee consisted of AEW General Counsel Chris Peck, an outside attorney, and AEW Superstar Bryan Danielson. It has also been reported that the committee was headed by none other than Danielson.
Thus, it seems Bryan Danielson has indeed made CM Punk leave AEW. This fact might have come as a shock to many. However, now it remains to be seen if The Second City Saint will have anything to comment on the latest reports in the upcoming days.
Taking a look at the history between Bryan Danielson and CM Punk
CM Punk and Bryan Danielson share a long history from their time together in WWE. While it has been mentioned that Punk was earlier a part of WWE, it is to be noted that Danielson was previously a part of the company as well.
Initially, Punk and Danielson feuded with each other for the WWE Championship, which Punk won. However, moving ahead Punk, Bryan, and Kane were involved in a three-way feud. This culminated in a triple threat match between the superstars at the 2012 No Way Out PPV event, where Punk retained the title.
It is to be noted that, while primarily Bryan and Punk feuded with each other, they later teamed up. At Survivor Series 2013, the team of Danielson and Punk defeated Erick Rowan and Luke Harper of The Wyatt Family. Moving ahead, both of them left the Stamford-based promotion and walked into AEW.
Punk has recently made his return to WWE
The fans of CM Punk were shocked as well as worried about the future of their favorite Superstar after his termination from AEW. Several speculations were going on regarding his next possible move. In the meantime, The Second City Saint has made his return to WWE.
The Triple H-led promotion recently held its latest PPV event Survivor Series 2023. It is the same event that marked the return of Punk to WWE. During the closing moments of the PLE, The Best in the World’s theme played and he walked out to a huge ovation from the audience. With that, now it remains to be seen what plans the company has in store for him.
