From being a WWE Superstar to transitioning into a successful Hollywood actor, Dave Bautista has really come a long way. Popularly known as “The Animal” during his WWE tenure, Dave was a prominent name in the company.
Bautista is now a full-time Hollywood actor and has given spectacular performances in movies such as Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Infinity War. The Animal is no longer an active WWE superstar, but his in-ring and on-mic segments are still widely discussed and reminisced.
In an interview video that has been going viral, Dave Bautista revealed a blunder he once made against Triple H that led to one of the most iconic WWE promos of all time. It was in March of 2019 when it happened. Bautista challenged Triple H for a match at WrestleMania that year.
Talking about the blunder, Dave said, “We didn’t talk about it; it wasn’t written out. So there were certain things we were looking for in that promo. And there was something that I hadn’t said. So he kept dragging it out, and I wasn’t sure what it was. So I had to keep escalating because once I went there, I couldn’t go back.”
“So that’s why he kept screaming louder and louder. I’m waiting for his cue. He’s waiting for my cue. And we just weren’t getting there. And then finally, it dawned on me that I needed to say something in that probe. I can’t remember exactly what it was. But yeah, that’s why it got bigger. It wasn’t intentional,” Bautista added.
Why did Dave Bautista leave WWE?
Following his 1999 debut in the WWF, Dave went on to become one of the most prominent WWE superstars of the 2000s. Under his ring name, the former WWE star won numerous titles in his WWE career and also won the 2005 Royal Rumble.
Dave left WWE for the first time in 2010 and then re-signed with the company in December 2013. His return was extra special as he won the Royal Rumble match in 2014 and went on to headline WrestleMania XXX, after which he again left the company in June 2014.
His second return to WWE was in late 2018, as he faced “The Hunter” Triple H in a No Holds Barred match at WrestleMania 35 in April 2019. Dave suffered a loss in that match and later announced his retirement from professional wrestling.
Even a loss in his last WWE match can’t deny the fact that Bautista was one of the most promising WWE superstars of his era. Dave has been touching the heights of success in Hollywood, and a return to the WWE seems unlikely. But as it’s generally said in professional wrestling, Never say never!
