The WWE Universe has taken a toll on many stars, both emotionally and physically, and one such incident left The Undertaker “devastated.” Being a beginner in the industry, he was accused of putting a WWE Hall Of Famer through a career-threatening injury at Survivor Series 1991.
However, with 19 years down the lane, The DeadMan claimed that Hulk Hogan faked his injury. He believed that all this was done to spoil his image and justify that he was indeed an unsafe wrestler. Speaking to ESPN back in 2020, The Undertaker recalled his devastating state after the backlash received from the match.
“I was devastated. It was a setup from the get-go. He was really nervous about taking my finish,” Taker said. After promising Hulk that he would take care of him, the DeadMan went ahead to make the move, which, in the eyes of Hogan, ended in failure. Hulk Hogan was the “golden goose” of the company back then, and injuring him worried The Undertaker.

“I’m in this precarious situation, I’m still green and now I have to confront the biggest face in wrestling ever and figure out what I’m going to do here. It’s risking my professional career,” he confessed. However, by the next week, Taker was sure that Hogan’s head did not hit the mat and he was safe.
What relationship did The Undertaker and Hulk Hogan share after the incident?
Soon after The Undertaker realized that he had not hurt Hulk Hogan, he decided to talk to him about the same. He said, “Terry, I watched it back and your head never hit?” To this Hogan replied, “Well brother, what it was is you had me so tight that when I came down, I had nowhere to move so that’s what jammed my neck cause I couldn’t move at all.” This was the final friendly conversation that The DeadMan had with Hulk Hogan.
Before the incident happened, Taker confessed to being on good terms with the Hulkster. He’d wish him hello and engage in small conversations, but their match changed it forever. As a result, The Undertaker lost all the respect that he had for the WWE Hall Of Famer.
“But from that Tuesday in Texas when I got that answer I knew all I needed to know about him. I dealt with it in a professional manner,” said The Undertaker. It was clear that Hogan’s attempt at painting him in a way he desired had a deep impact on Taker. Not just this, but the match also stained the relationship between the two stars.
