James Gunn’s last Guardians of the Galaxy offering saw former WWE superstar Dave Bautista reprise his role as Drax the Destroyer. He has been seen in the role since the first rendition of the film in 2014. The former world champion has gained massive popularity since first taking up the role, and the film has often been credited with kickstarting his acting career.
In the latest offering in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Guardians took on the High Evolutionary. The crew is first attacked by Adam Warlock, who has been created by High Priestess Ayesha. He is taken out by the Guardians, but he manages to leave Rocket seriously injured. The team then tries to stop the High Evolutionary from creating the Counter-Earth.
Thank you so much @JamesGunn for #GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol3 it was an absolute masterpiece, the most moving Marvel movie so far and the best love letter that you could write for those characters that you love and that we love so much. We couldn’t dream of a more beautiful goodbye pic.twitter.com/YYxxpCLly9

At the end of the movie, the Guardians of the Galaxy contemplate their future. Peter Quill leaves for Earth, where he wants to live out the rest of his life after parting ways with Gamora. The latter reunited with the Ravagers, while Rocket was bestowed the captaincy of the team by Quill. Meanwhile, Mantis goes on a journey of self-discovery. Drax, who is played by Dave Bautista, along with Nebula, remains on Knowhere.
In the post-credits scene, it was seen that Rocket was leading a new team on an unknown planet, while Groot had seemingly taken on a new form. Meanwhile, in the other post-credit scene, it can be seen that Peter Quill is having breakfast with his grandfather.
Dave Bautista on not wanting to be The Rock in Hollywood
When he forayed into Hollywood, many thought that the former world champion would use his physique and good looks to churn out one action film after another. However, that has been far from the case. The Guardians of the Galaxy star has taken on roles that have tested his acting acumen and made him a household name as an actor.
In a previous interview with GQ, the former wrestling star commented that he has no intention of becoming The Rock with his roles. He added that he wants to be a respected actor. “I never wanted to be the next Rock,” he says. “I just want to be a good f**king actor. A respected actor.”
Every day I say a little prayer for Drax. The role that changed my life. Forever grateful to the fans and my Guardians family. What a magical journey it’s been. Thank you for letting me be your Drax. 🙏🏼 #DraxForever ❤️ pic.twitter.com/mK5u8sLTI1

Although the latest rendition of the Guardians of the Galaxy will be the final time he takes on the role, it remains to be seen what other roles fans will see him in. The former WWE Superstar was also slated to go into the 2020 WWE Hall of Fame, but COVID-19 prevented that from happening. There has been speculation that he will be inducted in the next couple of years.
