Several talents were released from the WWE back in September 2023, featuring a lot of big names. Names like Dolph Ziggler, Shelton Benjamin, Elias, and several other notable superstars were on the list. It happened due to the budget cuts made after the popular Endeavor deal with WWE. One of the most popular names on the list also included Mustafa Ali.
Mustafa Ali is no stranger to the WWE Universe and has made a name for himself with an array of characters throughout his career. After making his debut with the company in 2016, he quickly gained a reputation for performing as a cruiserweight on 205 Live. Ali further portrayed different characters, but unfortunately parted ways with WWE in 2023.
After his unfortunate release, Ali waited for the 90-day non-compete clause to end and posted a video introducing his newest character after it ended. Ali announced the ‘Mustafa Ali 2024 World Tour’ while speaking to his fans at a political rally. He revealed he would be defeating the corrupted leaders of professional wrestling, which displayed Kazuchika Okada, Matt Cardona, and many more superstars.
Esteemed citizens,
I want to thank you for your continued support and contributions to the #MustafaAli2024 campaign. Together, we have grabbed the attention of corrupt industry leaders around the world. They know change is coming.

He recently tweeted about how the campaign is about to begin in 2024. Ali stated that he has gained the attention of all the ‘corrupted leaders’. He stated, “In the next few weeks, dream matches that have been negotiated will be announced. These matches will have significant ramifications on our mission to restore honor, create an impact through action, and take the industry to new horizons”.
With big things in store for him, Ali will be competing in several matches in different independent wrestling promotions. The former WWE Superstar will soon be making his GCW debut on January 12. He will also be wrestling in other promotions, including Prestige Wrestling and Dreamwave, throughout January and February.
The real reason behind Mustafa Ali’s WWE Exit
Mustafa Ali was scheduled to face Dominik Mysterio at NXT No Mercy on September 30, 2023. However, he took it to his social media, revealing that he is no longer with the company. While he was included in the list of WWE’s budget cuts, he didn’t want to be a part of the company. He even requested his release from WWE in 2022 but was denied by Vince McMahon.
No longer*. Sorry for the confusion.

The former WWE Superstar was once pitched to face Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 2019 but was kept on the sidelines due to his injury. Since then, WWE didn’t have any proper plans for the star, which made him feel disconnected from the company. He did have some feuds while in the company but was never portrayed as the face of the company.
After trying out several characters, including being the leader of the faction ‘Retribution’, Mustafa Ali was unable to become a huge draw. Ali went on to NXT and was involved in the NXT North American title picture in his final days. While Mustafa was scheduled to have a title match, he revealed that he is no longer a part of the company. The former WWE Superstar has a bright future to which he looks and aims to become a huge star on his own.
