The UFC returns with another Fight Night card in an action-packed month. Returning to the Apex for UFC Vegas 70, we will see Ode Osbourne vs Charles Johnson in a catchweight bout in the prelims.
UFC Vegas 70 is set to be headlined by Nikita Krylov and Ryan Spann fighting in a 5-round light heavyweight contest. Moreover, Andre Muniz and Brendan Allen will take the stage in a co-main middleweight bout. Notably, Tatiana Suarez will be making her return to the UFC after a brutal knee injury that has seen her miss nearly 2 years of action.

Coming to the fight in focus, we have a bantamweight taking on a flyweight in what will be a catchweight bout. Previously, Osbourne was meant to take on Denys Bondar, who has now been replaced by Johnson on less than two weeks short notice. As such, it will be Johnson’s second fight in less than two months.
Whilst Ode comes in with a loss against Tyson Nam, Johnson is coming off a 1st round finish against Jimmy Flick. Whilst the Jamaican Osbourne is 3-3 in the UFC, the American Johnson is now 2-1 in the UFC. As such, considering the circumstances, it should make for an interesting watch.

Osbourne vs Johnson: Fight Breakdown
For the most part, Charles Johnson is favored to win this bout by most. Notably, he has finished 9 of his 13 professional fights, without ever being finished himself. Primarily a wrestler, InnerG is a competent fighter in standup as well. As such, he is very good at distance management and likes to keep his opponents at the end of his jab.
Recently, he’s been fighting a riskier game, staying in the pocket for longer. However, he tends to manage this risk by mixing in takedowns and using his upper body strength to control his opponents. Thus, we can say that Johnson is a very athletic, and well-rounded fighter, who tends to flirt with danger every now and then.
On the other hand, Osbourne is a much more erratic fighter. Despite having some exciting tricks up his sleeve, Ode has been known to be inconsistent and a little suspect defensively. The Jamaican Sensation is known to start strong but eventually has a habit of fading away, raising questions over his gas tank. As a relatively tall fighter, Ode also likes to utilize his range and keep his opponents at the end of his quick combinations.
In a fight such as this, Ode’s best bet would be to catch Charles off guard early on and try to finish the fight. Hence, the longer the fight goes on, the more there are chances of Ode getting clipped, and getting gassed out. Thus, if Charles comes in with a solid plan and a calm mind, he will walk away with this one.
