Sean Strickland attempted his first UFC Middleweight title defense against Dricus du Plessis. However, he failed to do so at UFC 297 and du Plessis won the championship with a split decision. Strickland is known for verbally going all out on his opponents via social media and press conferences. Similarly, Sean has now taken shots at Dricus and his coach, Morne Visser, for kissing each other on the lips.
Dricus du Plessis and his coach have been spotted multiple times kissing after a victory. Furthermore, after his epic victory over middleweight contender Robert Whittaker, some of his old footage with his coach went viral. These viral clips confused MMA fans all around the world. However, some of the African fans were claiming that it was a cultural thing.

Sean Strickland took to social media to call out ‘Stillknocks’ and his coach for some of these clips. The Middleweight Champion asked Dricus to “hold up four fingers” if he was in any danger from Morne Visser. He will definitely use this topic against DDP during the media promotion for UFC 297, which will take place on January 20, 2024.
While Dricus du Plessis has been radio silent on this topic, his fellow teammate has revealed the real reason for kissing their coach. Cameron Saaiman is a 22-year-old South African fighter in the UFC bantamweight division. Both Saaiman and du Plessis train with Team CIT, headed by Morne Visser. Previously, in an interview, Saimaan explained this shocking gesture to MMA fans around the world.

Just like Dricus du Plessis, Saaiman has also been spotted kissing his coach. During an interview, Cameron Saaiman finally addressed this situation. According to the South African fighter, it is a part of their culture. “Well, that’s how we were brought up,“ said Saaiman.
Furthermore, he said that it is very normal to greet their father and grandfather with a kiss or a hug in South African culture. He said that he and Dricus du Plessis kissing their coach is just a normal thing for them. However, Cameron said that he understands that it would have been weird for UFC fans from other areas to see that moment.

“I can imagine people watching the fight like knockout and then kissing your coach like what?” said the UFC bantamweight. Furthermore, he said that maybe this gesture is not a cultural thing in other countries, but in his culture, it is not a big deal. The interviewer even said that he wanted to ask this question to Dricus since he was the main event and a lot of people would have discovered him kissing his coach.
