Kevin Holland appeared alongside Joe Rogan for an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience and expressed his views on the UFC’s undisputed lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Holland had nothing but praise for the Dagestani fighter and stated he would like for Khabib to try to capture the UFC’s welterweight championship.
“I would like to see the double champ status. At 155, I don’t think there is anything left to prove. He has run through everybody at 155.”
It’s hard not to agree with Kevin Holland. Khabib Nurmagomedov’s dominance in the UFC’s lightweight division remains unparalleled. He is 29-0 and remains undefeated in his professional mixed martial arts career. While he may have retired, fight fans believe that there could be a possibility that we will get to see Nurmagomedov compete inside the UFC’s Octagon once again.

There has never been a double champ in the lightweight and welterweight division. However, if Nurmagomedov can do that, there’s every reason to believe that he will go down as the GOAT without a reason of doubt.
The rise of Kevin Holland
Kevin Holland’s rise in 2020 was nothing less than spectacular. Holland raked in five victories in the year 2020 and sent a statement to the entire division. Holland is scheduled to take on #7 ranked middleweight contender Derek Brunson next in the main event of UFC Vegas 22.

Kevin Holland is not a new name in the world of mixed martial arts. However, his spectacular performance in the year 2020 which involved several highlight-reel finishes, most notably against former champion Ronaldo Souza has plummeted him to newer heights.
In the process, he also recorded the most number of wins in a year in UFC’s history with three Performance of the Night bonus awards. Holland will look to get a statement win over Derek Brunson and further cement his position in the UFC’s middleweight division. Holland’s popularity could also help him get a title shot in the near future if he is able to repeat his brilliance of 2020.

However, Derek Brunson is a solid contender and a test that won’t be an easy one for Holland. Brunson is coming off an impressive stoppage win over Edmen Shahbazyan and will look to mimic the same performance as he takes on fan-favorite Kevin Holland next.
