When you talk about the most polarizing figure in UFC right now the name Colby Covington comes to the table. He was on the verge of being cut from UFC since he was not a big draw. Despite dominating his opponents inside the octagon he could not attract the masses to tune in to watch his fights.
And that’s when Colby Covington came up with the heel persona and ran with it. He instantly became the talk of the town thanks to his trash talks and provocative comments. An entire nation became the enemy of Colby Covington when he took on the Hero of Brazil, Demian Maia. However, the former interim welterweight champion has made a name for himself in the star-studded welterweight division.

But Colby Covington is not the only one who brought the pro wrestling gimmicks into UFC. The former two-division champion, Henry Cejudo was also managed to get fans’ attention by his “King of Cringe” gimmick.
When the entire flyweight division was about to get cut after the departure of Demetrious Johnson from UFC, Cejudo saved the entire division by his gimmick and impressive in-ring performance. Cejudo became the most accomplished combat athlete of all time after winning the bantamweight division and recently he retired from the sport after beating Dominick Cruz.

In a recent interview with ScoreMMA, when Colby Covington was asked about Cejudo’s retirement from the sport, the Choas stated:
“He was so lame man. It was pathetic”
Covington also recalled an incident when Cejudo asked his permission to walk out with him into the arena at UFC 242. As per Covington, Cejudo wanted the fans’ attention and what better way to get it than walk out to thousands of fans along with the Choas.
Covington also claimed that Henry Cejudo is unoriginal and he has tried to copy him.
Talking about Cejudo’s future in UFC, Covington said that Cejudo is using the retirement to get leverage during negotiation. However, Covington does not believe this tactic is going to work because Cejudo is not genuine. Covington also bashed Cejudo saying that:
“He does not know what he is doing. He should probably just retire because he is not an entertainer. Show business is just not for him.”
