SUMMARY
- UFC fighter Sean Strickland and American politician Vivek Ramaswamy reflected similar views regarding the LGBTQ community.
- Both men believe adults have free will but kids should not be involved.
Fight cards involving Sean Strickland always have a knack for creating controversy in press conferences. On UFC 297’s media day, Strickland went on an anti-LGBTQ community rant toward a reporter. Moreover, he opined about how the lgbtq “agenda” should not go past parents. An opinion that reflects a lot of what was also said by Republican Vivek Ramaswamy.

Strickland claimed he does not care about other people’s lives but he was not fond of the idea of brainwashing people. He said, “I don’t give a f*ck who you f*ck. I don’t give a f*ck what you want to do in life but but don’t f*cking tell kids about it. Don’t teach that sh*t in f*cking school, don’t try to push your f*cking agenda. Don’t try to brainwash people, don’t try to go past parents.”
This ideology was also reflected in the speech given by Ramaswamy. The American entrepreneur and Republican Party member was asked about his stance on LGBTQ people. Ramaswamy claimed that “transgenderism specifically is a mental health disorder.”
He narrated a story about women who were now in their 20s. These women had their female biological parts removed when they were teenagers. However, according to Ramaswamy, in their 20s, they regretted that decision.

He said, “If you’re an adult you’re free to live your life however you want as long as you are not hurting someone else… but kids are not the same as adults and we have to protect our children.” The politician’s point was that adults should be able to make all the choices they want but kids should not be involved. A similar ideology to what Strickland said during UFC 297 media day.
Sean Strickland went off at a reporter for bringing up his anti-gay comments
Strickland was asked by journalist Alexander K Lee about his previous statement regarding the LGBTQ community. Strickland had claimed that he would have failed as a father if his son was gay. The American called Lee a part of the problem while going off at him. “Let me ask you something, are you gay?” Strickland asked Lee. The journalist, who works for MMA Fighting, as stated by Outsports, was not gay.
“You ask me some stupid sh*t like that? Go f*ck yourself.”

“No, are you gay?… Well no I’m asking you, this is a part of it, are you a gay man?… Ok, if you had a son and he was gay, you’d be like oh, man, you don’t want a grandkid?… Oh, man, well, dude you’re a weak f****** man, dude. You’re part of the f****** problem, you elected Justin Trudeau,” continued Strickland.
The former UFC Middleweight champion added more controversial statements about Canadian politics in his rant. He was faced with defeat in the Octagon at the Scotiabank Arena over the weekend at UFC 297 as Dricus du Plessis was crowned the new UFC Middleweight champion.
