Recently, the internet caught Sean Strickland, the current UFC Middleweight champion and American mixed martial artist signed to the UFC, in a moment of vulnerability once again. Sean Strickland answered in quite a “zesty” way when Theo Von, an American standup comedian and podcaster, asked him a very ‘weird’ question on his podcast ‘This Past Weekend’ on the January 2, 2024 episode.
Theo Von, renowned for his offbeat statements on the internet, maintained his characteristic style in his latest episode. The conversation started with Theo saying, “Let’s say this, You had to gay out or whatever with one good fighter in the UFC and it can be any weight class”. Sean cut him off and asked, “Like (are you) talking about physically f*cking somebody?”.

To which Theo replied. “No, it can be just a date it could be, but there’s some kissing at the end…. Because there’s some handsome guys out there”. To which Sean agreed, saying, “Yeah, some is looking good looking UFC fighters”.
Then Theo proceeded to pull out a list on the internet titled ‘Hottest UFC Fighters of 2023’. “Here we got Paulo Costa, what do you think? One to ten? Beautiful guy?” Theo asked Strickland. Sean replied by saying, “I mean….he’s a good looking Brazilian”. Strickland then went on to say, “I think he would take it for sure….if there is gonna be some f*cking he’s gonna be bent over the shower you know”.
Theo Von posted a clip of this podcast on his Instagram and got a huge response from fans. Most were making fun of Sean Strickland for saying such a bizarre thing. A user said, “That’s some gay sh*t right there”. Another said, “Costa will never look at him the same”. One fan commented, “This is the gayest heterosexual conversation ever”.
Another fan proclaimed Sean Strickland’s nature by saying, “I told y’all Strickland is zesty”. It’s safe to say Sean isn’t getting rid of these “zesty” and “gay” allegations anytime soon. Let’s hope they don’t interfere with his mindset coming into his first title defense against Dricus du Plessis on January 20, 2024.
Sean Strickland has had some bizarre moments on camera
Mistakingly assuming that Sean Strickland, of a global organization, would possess awareness and control over most of his statements or actions would be an error. Strickland’s fans will tell you that this wasn’t his first bizarre incident caught on camera, and it won’t be his last.
Recently, Sean Strickland got an awful response from UFC fans when he broke down on the same Theo Von podcast while opening up about his childhood trauma. This comes after his previous comments about Khalil Rountree’s post-fight emotional speech at UFC Fight Night 203, where he called Khalil a “BETA male” for crying.
In another incident from 7 months ago, Sean Strickland was showing his blatantly racist side on the internet. When Helen Yee was interviewing the now UFC Middleweight Champion, she started teaching him a bit of Chinese. This turned out to be a big mistake, as Sean started saying some pretty offensive things with no filter.
Sean Strickland tends to be so out-of-pocket at times that there are whole compilations on YouTube of his weird moments. Another incident of him calling Israel Adesanya a “Chinese sl*t” made quite a few rounds on the Internet as well. Then there’s that time when Strickland compares UFC fighters to P*rnstars. One more bizarre incident is when Sean also takes a dig at Phil Hawes in the middle of the interview.
One thing is for sure: Sean Strickland won’t be stopping anytime soon with his outlandish comments. What do you think about his lack of awareness and outspoken behavior? Tell us in the comments below.
