YouTube sensation Logan Paul and his brother Jake have recently made headlines with their UFC partnership. Logan has even had president Dana White on his “IMPAULSIVE” podcast. However, Jake has made enemies with the brass by touching on newsworthy issues like fighter pay and healthcare. Not to mention, Jake had even gone out of his way to mock MMA fighters as part of his skits.
Recently, the self-claimed American Gangster Chael Sonnen went on to Ariel Helwani‘s The MMA Hour Show to discuss a whole bunch of subjects. During a particular segment, Ariel asked him if he has ever tried drinking PRIME. For people unaware, YouTube sensations KSI and Logan Paul co-own a portion of the rehydration drink. Chael with the quick-witted persona that he carries, immediately responds with “No, [But] I’d try it if you had it.”
Upon this, Helwani persuaded Sonnen to provide him with the desired color and flavor of his choice. Chael didn’t skip a beat and said “well red if you have it.” Right away, Ariel got him the ‘Tropical punch’ flavor from the back before adding “courtesy of my good friend Logan Paul.”
“It tastes okay, okay. Well, it’s definitely sugary. It’s too sugary, but it does taste okay. I mean I gotta give him that. First time I’ve tried it,” added Chael. “It does have a nice taste, it really does. But its a little sweet.”
It is noteworthy that during UFC 286 fight week, welterweight champion Leon Edwards’ dietician made some bold claims about PRIME. Jordan Sullivan has been Edwards’ dietician for quite some time and knows the in and outs of an MMA fighter’s weight cut. He claimed in an Instagram reel that PRIME is “literally the worst” when it comes to helping the fighters re-hydrate.
Logan Paul and KSI secured a multi-year deal with the UFC
This year started with many surprising events, something which was beyond the fans’ expectations. At the end of January, it was announced that YouTubers-turned-boxers KSI and Logan Paul have signed a multi-year deal with the UFC. However, this deal doesn’t have anything to do with either of them debuting in the Octagon. Instead, the company has partnered with the duo to sponsor their PRIME Hydration drink.
With the deal now in place, the drink will now be labeled as “The Official Sports Drink of the UFC” during live events and Pay-per-views. All this happened just a year after Logan and KSI launched the drink. As per the deal, the brand name will be blown across every show UFC does. And during the bouts, the red and blue corners will be renamed to PRIME Hydration Recovery Zones.
The drink made its debut on UFC 284 in Australia with Islam Makhachev and Alexander Volkanovski headlining the event. Both YouTubers have been on the road promoting the drink to reach out to a larger audience. It is worth mentioning that the deal has attracted mixed reactions from the fight fans.
