There has been a lot of chatter around this potential super fight lately. From Kamaru Usman’s manager to Israel Adesanya’s coach, everybody has shared their take on the contest.
Kamaru Usman was asked about his legacy by Jim Rome of CBS sports. Usman stated he wants to leave a legacy by continuously winning his fights. He also spoke on a potential move to the light-heavyweight division. The 170lbs champ added that he contemplated moving up during the reign of Jan Blachowicz.
As far as the middleweight division is concerned, Usman said he does not want to fight Israel Adesanya under normal circumstances. He wants his fellow Nigerian fighter to have a championship belt as well. However, that might change if there’s an offer that he can’t refuse.

‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ said, “If Dana White is willing to sit us down and say, $100 million, ‘Hey guys, let’s split this up,’ at that point Israel and I would have to talk. Because at that point, my little brother, my blood brother, we would have to talk and say, ‘Hey, let’s go out here and make this money.”
What is next for Kamaru Usman?
Kamaru Usman is currently sidelined as he is recovering from a ligament surgery that he had a few days prior. However, his manager confirmed that he will be ready for a comeback in time for the international fight week. The UFC president already has confirmed that Leon Edwards will finally get his title shot. But that is not the end of the threat to Usman’s throne. The 34-year old was asked about Khamzat Chimaev as well during the interview.
In response to that, Kamaru Usman added that he certainly has an interest in facing Chimaev. However, Khamzat is not something Usman is worried about at the moment. The champ is the pound for pound no. 1 fighter in the world. Hence, Usman does not have to chase anything. He will fight Usman when the time is right.
