Jon Anik seems a fan of trivial knowledge. However, these facts are the ones that often end him up in trouble. Repeating his previous doings, Anik made comments on the personal life of UFC double champion fighter Amanda Nunes.
After Amanda Nunes graciously won over Irene Aldana at UFC 289, she was celebrating her moment with her daughter Raegan in the Octagon. Nunes also announced her retirement post-fight. During the time, the play-by-play commentator Anik commented on Amanda and her wife‘s next daughter.

“ They have another daughter on the way and if you do care. It’s Amanda’s eggs that are inside Nina. So in all likelihood that second girl is gonna just look like her.”
The comment was not well received by the MMA community. People all over the internet, especially the fan base of the ‘Lioness’ seemed infuriated by the unnecessary publicity of Nunes’ private life.
Many even appreciated Jon for doing his homework well. Some even had a good laugh at Jon’s comment, approaching the comment in a humorous way.
Jon Anik passed a similar comment on the personal life of Chris Gutierrez
2 years down the lane of memory, Anik would remember the backlash he had to face due to a similar comment he made. In 2022, Chris Gutierrez faced Andre Ewell in UFC 258 in a thrilling bout, which Gutierrez won.
During the bout, Jon Akin bought up the custody battle Chris and Andre were facing at the time. For that, he was condemned by folks all across for bringing up personal details during the fight.
‘El Guapo’, in his post-fight interview, opened up about how he got emotional and was going through a tough phase in life. “It’s no secret that I’ve been going through a really bad custody battle. You know I haven’t seen my son in two years. I want to give him the life I never had, that’s my goal.”
The comments passed by him were public news at that time, as mentioned by the bantamweight competitor himself. After receiving much harsh criticism, the commentator publically apologized for his actions through his public interview. He confessed that he would take it back if he could.
“The life of both of these guys is their sons that they aren’t allowed to see. Mistakenly, I wish I could take it back, but I tied their two stories together. Not a day in my life goes by when some UFC fan reaches out to me on Twitter or Instagram and says something about the custody battle.”
