Dustin Poirier does not believe he has a reason to fight Conor McGregor for a fourth time in their careers. In an interview this past weekend, Poirier claimed he plans on fighting at the milestone UFC event – UFC 300. Although McGregor also hopes the same, Poirier does not think a fight between them is on the cards.
Poirier fought McGregor for the first time at Featherweight on UFC 178 in 2014. McGregor won the bout via TKO in the first round. The pair met again seven years later in January 2021, on UFC 257, at Lightweight. This time, Poirier won the spoils via TKO in the second round.

Months later, Poirier and McGregor were ready to complete their trilogy as they fought for the third time in July 2021. The American made it 2-1 in his favor after clinching another stoppage victory at UFC 264. The Irishman broke his leg during the fight.
McGregor has not returned to fight since his third bout against Poirier. The Irish fighter entered the USADA pool recently and was hoping to make his comeback by April 2024. Although Poirer wanted to fight during a similar period, he was not interested in the idea of a fourth fight against McGregor.
The former interim UFC Lightweight champion said, “I probably would try to shut him up once and for all but even if I slap his a*s around again he’s still going to be chatting so we’ll see.”
However, he claimed there is no reason for a fourth fight, “I don’t really see another reason for it but it’d be a huge fight.”
Poirier also wished to fight on UFC 300 which will be the fourth PPV of 2024. No fights have yet been scheduled for the milestone card.
Like Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier also targets a fight at UFC 300
When interviewed in Saudi Arabia, a few weeks ago, McGregor was hopeful of returning by April 2024. UFC 300 is expected to take place in April and it seemed like McGregor was targeting the milestone card. However, recent developments have ruled out that possibility. It is now believed that McGregor will return a little later in the summer.

On the other hand, Poirier also expressed the wish to fight at UFC 300. He explained how he missed out on UFC 200 and will not be fighting till UFC 400, so, UFC 300 is his only shot.
When asked about a professional wish for 2024, Poirier said, “To get a huge fight on [UFC] 300. Ride the ship, get back in the wind, have a great performance, put on a war, and uh get home safe.”
As of now, UFC CEO Dana White has released the fight card of UFC 297 which is set to take place in January 2024. There are no developments of the fight cards of the following PPVs.
