While one could say it was always expected, UFC President Dana White announced exciting new project with former dual Champion Conor McGregor. White revealed that he is working on some “fun stuff” with Conor McGregor and targeted early 2021 for a potential return from the Notorious. However, Dana White maintained that the return might not be to compete inside the octagon. Regardless, we could be in for another big money fight for McGregor inside the boxing ring. It remains to be seen what McGregor’s future holds after the former dual Champion announced his retirement from mixed martial arts months after his hugely anticipated return to the octagon against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246.

Dana White in a recent interview to Sports Ceneter revealed that UFC is working with Conor McGregor. “We are working on some fun stuff with Conor at the beginning of next year. He should be back next year. I am not saying he is coming back to fight. But we are talking right now about some stuff.” White stated.
Conor McGregor to return to the octagon in early 2021
Earlier, McGregor had expressed his desire to face Khabib Nurmagomedov in a rematch. However, after UFC decided to go with Tony Ferguson vs Justin Gaethje for the interim strap, McGregor opened up on facing Justin Gaethje. When UFC announced Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Justin Gaethje for the UFC Lightweight Championship, McGregor took to twitter to express his frustration.

Conor McGregor could be looking at a potential showdown inside the boxing ring against Manny Pacquao or a rematch with Floyd Mayweather. Soon after McGregor announced his retirement, boxing great Floyd Mayweather sent out a tweet stating that he would be waiting for his return. Dana White has also expressed interest in a potential rematch between Mayweather and McGregor.
Dana White has stated that McGregor may not be returning to the octagon. However, it remains to be seen if McGregor has indeed called it quits. McGregor is still in his prime and looks in great shape. With the addition of Michael Chandler in the UFC Lightweight division, there are many interesting match-ups for Conor McGregor if he decides to return to the octagon.
