Alexa Grasso has seen her popularity grow a lot after becoming the new women’s flyweight champion. Having bested one of the greatest in Valentina Shevchenko, Grasso firmly put herself at the top of the hill. In doing so, she has garnered a lot of attention from far and wide.
Previously, Alexa shocked the world when she submitted Valentina at UFC 285. In what was a historic moment for the Mexican MMA community, Grasso took her place as one of three champions hailing from the country. Since her massive victory, it is no surprise that a lot of fans have wanted to know more about the 30-year-old flyweight champ.
As such, some have also wondered about Grasso’s love life and the people she is related to. Most notably, fans were surprised to know that she works closely with Diego Lopes. Previously, Lopes made his debut at UFC 288 against Movsar Evloev. Moreover, the BJJ specialist is also Alexa’s coach at Lobo Gym MMA.
Similarly, another name to be linked with Grasso is American actor and television host, Mario Lopez. Owing to Grasso and Lopez’s Mexican roots, it is not surprising that some sources have linked the two. With that said, let’s see if there is any substance to the links between Grasso and Mario Lopez.
Mario Lopez is a fan of Alexa Grasso and MMA
For those wondering, Lopez is a very prominent name in the television entertainment industry. Over the years, Lopez has appeared in numerous television series, films, and on Broadway. Some of his most notable works include Saved by the Bell, Dancing with the Stars, America’s Best Dance Crew, the second season of the American version of The X Factor, and more. Thus, it is not too far-fetched to assume that there could be links between the 49-year-old TV star and Grasso.
Unfortunately, there is no evidence of the women’s flyweight champion and Mario being linked to each other. Whilst some wondered whether the two were related through family, both were born in different places and have different ancestry. Whilst Mario was born to emigrant parents from Sinaloa and Tijuana, Grasso was born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Although they may not be linked romantically or through ancestry, they both share a love for the sport of MMA.

Previously, Lopez was in attendance at UFC 285 to watch Grasso claim the women’s flyweight title. An avid MMA fan, Lopez took to Instagram to post about the event and even posted a story congratulating Grasso for her win. Not only that but Lopez is very fond of combat sports and regularly trains in boxing jiu jitsu.
Although he enjoys other sports like football, golf, and tennis as well, Lopez can be seen in the gym sparring or working on his combat skills. Although they may not be related, Mario definitely sees Alex as an inspiration and has enrolled his children in learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as well.
