JRE is the most streamed, the single best-performing podcast on the Spotify platform.
The podcast boasts a viewership of an estimated 11 million people per episode which made it the most popular podcast on Spotify in 2021. According to Joe Rogan’s website, the podcast has been downloaded three billion times to date.

Joe Rogan signed a Spotify contract worth $200 million in 2020, helping the platform cement its audio shift. Rogan’s podcast has consistently topped Spotify’s charts but his content has continually sparked political controversies, which prompted artists like Neil Young and Joni Mitchell to temporarily leave the platform. In response to the backlash, Spotify formed the Safety Advisory Council and removed many of the episodes from JRE.

Rogan’s contract is reportedly up at the end of 2023, Spotify CEO Daniel Ek once said that they will not “overpay or overinvest” in future podcast deals. But, the popularity and the huge amount of listeners of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast make it really hard for the platform of Spotify to not renew the contract of Joe Rogan. The revenue and listenership that Rogan continues to generate makes it almost impossible for Spotify to not renew his contract.
